About this listen
Kullen is the emperor’s assassin. The sharp hand of justice. The Black Talon.
Gifted a soul-forged bond with his dragon, Umbris, Kullen is tasked with hunting any and all who oppose the empire.
But when the secretive Crimson Fang murders two noblemen before his very eyes, Kullen must discover the truth of who they are and what they want. What he uncovers is a web of lies and deceit spiraling into the depths of Dimvein.
Natisse, a high-ranking member of the rebellion known as the Crimson Fang, has no greater goal than to rid Dimvein of power-hungry nobles. Haunted by her past, fire, flames, and the death of her parents, she sets out to destroy the dragons and those who wield them as unstoppable weapons of destruction.
Until she, too, finds herself buried beneath the weight of the revelations her investigations reveal.... The empire is under siege from within, and one man, dressed in black like the night, stands at the epicenter of it all.
Black Talon is the first book in Dragonblood Assassin from number one Audible and Washington Post best seller Jaime Castle and epic-fantasy legend Andy Peloquin, perfect for fans of the Forgotten Realms, Joe Abercrombie, David Dalglish, and Kel Kade.

Liked it
It was included in the membership and with Kate & Michael narrating this I had to give it a go. I really liked it and got invested in the characters, and even though it was quite predictable at times the ending was a surprise. I recommend it, looking forward to reading the second book.

A great read/listen
So I really enjoyed listening to this book; massive Michael Kramer and Kate Reading fan here. In particular, the sniveling, snake-like seneschal character who spoke with a lisp (of course); just perfect for mister Kramer to have a lot of fun with. So, on to the story itself, I really liked the male main protagonist who was a lot more nuanced and turned out to have a more complex background story then what it seemed to at first glance. Now as for the other protagonist and main viewpoint, the female one, well let's get the elephant out of the room, she was basically Vin from the Mistborn series. Well, I guess I can live with that. There was also a pampered and sheltered, mostly useless princeling character who was basically Elhokar from the Stormlight Archive series from the same author. Oh well, let's hope Brandon Sanderson doesn't sue for copyright infringement. With all that being said, looking forward to the next installment!

Very good book
I get through a lot of books so nowadays don’t often get round to go posting a review, but wanted to share, this is a good one. I stumble across it and very much enjoyed it.

Truly awesome writing!
I have had sleepless nights trying to find out what happens next. I was not able to guess any of the outcomes until it was too late which makes a change as I can normally see how the stories unfold before I’ve gotten past the first chapter. You simply must read and then re-read this book. It’s absolutely amazing. I love it. Please more!

unexpected delight!
I struggle to write this, as I just want to start the next book in this series!
This was unexpected, particularly as I nearly stopped at chapter 2. The 2 narrators were awkward on my ears it didn't sit comfortably...then something clicked and it all just felt right. A story of 2 separate lives running parralel. There is mystery, there is magic, sadness, joy, humour, dragons, forgiveness, revenge, power and I just didn't see it coming so well done. This is one story I'm glad I listened to. if you like fantasy....give this a go stay for at least 4 chapters...

Writing style a bit penny-dreadful
Kramer & Reading do brilliant narration, as always, and the story is pretty good. If only the author was just a little less wordy - it really spoils the flow. The dives into motivation and background can fill out the characters and the world building, but please leave a tiny bit for the reader's intelligence and stop spoiling the flow with over-the-top and completely unnecessary exposition. It got to the point where I was expecting to hear what some spear carrier had hoped to have for breakfast as the knife flashed - unerringly - towards their eye socket... I completely lost the thread on many a lengthy divergence, at a key moment, into something utterly irrelevant.
