Summary
Best Loser Wins is an intimate insight into one of the most prolific high-stake retail traders in the world. Tom Hougaard is the winner of multiple trading competitions and on one occasion traded £25,000 into more than £1 million over the course of a year.
While the average retail trader risks £10 per point in the underlying asset, Tom Hougaard frequently risks up to £3,500 per point. This risk exposure requires a mindset that is out of the ordinary. Normal thinking leads to normal results. For exceptional results, traders must think differently.
This book will guide and inspire you in ways no other trading book has. It is not about strategies and money management. It is about mind management. Tom Hougaard provides a unique and refreshingly personal account of how an ordinary trader elevated his game to incredible heights by focusing as much on his mental approach as on his technical analysis.
Best Loser Wins explains how you, by thinking differently when you are trading, can elevate your game from mediocre and sporadic, to excellent and consistent. No amount of technical analysis will ever do that for you.
Tom Hougaard says, “People don’t fail because they don’t know enough about technical analysis. They fail because they don’t understand what the markets are doing to their minds.” Best Loser Wins is an antidote to conventional and flawed thinking in trading, and a blueprint for a new belief system for traders who want to elevate their results to levels they never dreamed they could reach.

Not just another trading book!
Mr. Hougaard discussing uncomfortable key aspects of trading which majority of traders do not practise.
The author describes in very thorough way trading flaws of the mind and methods you may find useful to overcome them.
There’s no system, strategy or buy here and sell here formula, instead you will find many valuable information about the mindset of a successful trader.
Absolute must read for any aspiring trader.
Having said that, there are no unique points presented, there are few personal stories but not of a great trading psychology significance. It’s more the author’s personal journey and how he skilfully adopted trading psychology he learned from others.
Mr. Hougaard book is a consolidation of trading psychology already taught by e.g. Mark Douglas, Dr. David Paul, Charlie D, “Phantom of the pits”.
5 stars for the effort of putting all of it together in an engaging narrative.

copy paste of Phantom of the Pits
Tom is a trader that had to publish a book to make some money he's also active in trading courses business. and that alone should tell you enough about this book. people who make big money in trading dont sell courses and write books about how to make money trading. but to go deeper 70% of this book is copy paste from Phantom of the pits, some knowledge from market wizzards and two other books. All in all Tom lives in Bormought in 400 k house and drives 10 years old audi a1. I'm not judging the book by its cover Warren Buffet drives 50 years old car but Tom is(probably) playing a demo account and always recomenda one particular broker. i never saw him connecting his trading account to FX book or forex factory and hes not doing it for a reason. he trades demo (probably) im saying probably so I avoid a law suit here but that's (probably a case)

I'll save you 6 hours of your life.
Waste of time, bunch of inflated words with little to no meaning. The message of this book is basically hold and add to your winners, you will hear it in every chapter, this dude should open up his eyes to different styles of trading than just blindly holding for the big move every time he enters a trade.

Must listen for any developing trader!
Excellent book that is a must listen for any developing trader out there. It will likely resonate most with those who have already started trading and have a good technical knowledge but have hit some struggles/roadblocks on the way. The entire book focuses on the idea of why the key to success is overcoming negative beliefs/habits in your mind and not with just learning more technical knowledge and some of the things you can do to help you get there.
To me this is an essential listen if you are on the journey to becoming a successful trader. Tom's youtubers videos and website are also worth checking for lots of helpful stuff too.

Credit where it’s due
Hands up I took a potentially valuable lesson from this and expect, if the lesson is as profound as i think it might be, certainly in my approach, the consequences could be powerful in areas outside of this books lane. Either way. It’s absolutely worth a listen. I do recommend it.

A truthful perspective
From the 1st chapter I was hooked and then as the book progressed I could see it's use to not only trading but many other aspects of life. A brilliant piece of work. I enjoyed his youtube lecture referenced early in the book also.

Wow! A real game changer!
This is the best book on the mental importance of trading I have ever listened to! Even better than Trading in the zone that was my previous favourite!

Tells it straight
Why are you a losing trader? Good chance it’s not down to your trading setups or technical skill, but all about your mental state. Tom Hougaard doesn’t tell you anything you don’t already know, but lays it out in a manner that makes you think with clarity about what you need to do to be a consistently profitable trader. It doesn’t mean that it’s easy, but it is doable.
