Summary

Andrew Aziz describes technology, strategy, and psychology as the three essential pillars of successful trading, and he knows that the psychological aspects of trading are the most likely to be underestimated or even ignored. He wrote Mastering Trading Psychology to help traders enhance their understanding of this crucial pillar of trading and to strengthen their "mental skills" in order to maximize their performance.

This practical and highly entertaining book takes its listeners inside the minds of ordinary retail traders who contributed more than 175 accounts of their successes, their failures, their joys, their struggles, and, most of all, what they have learned as traders. Some are experienced, but many are relative beginners. They represent an intriguing diversity in terms of where they live, their ages, their levels of education, their everyday jobs, and how they tell their stories. All are members of Andrew's trading community, and their enthusiastic response to his invitation to share their experiences and insights was overwhelming. Complemented by Andrew's explanatory text, the stories are told in the contributors' own words, minimally edited for length, clarity, and privacy.

Excellent, inspirational!!

I’ve been trading for 20+ years. This book really honed in on the holistic aspects that are so important for mastering trading psychology. I’m inspired and motivated after listening to it. Thanks Andrew and Mike for a really great book!

Some good content but overlong and disorganised

I listened to this after 'Day Trading for Beginners'. It's not a bad follow up, but it does repeat some of the content. The structure of the book seems a little disorganised, with tidbits of information that would seem better collected into properly themed chapters. I would also say it's a bit overlong, and could be cut down by around 25-30%. Nevertheless, it was worthwhile overall.

Worth a listen

Some good advice, but those who don't like to be told to go vegetarian/ vegan (like me) can skip the whole of Chapter 8, which is more a diatribe against meat. Guys lay off the agenda. Loses a star because of this.

Decent

Some bits are really good, but a lot of shilling his own products and the eating/healthy life stuff is complete bs and biased.

You won’t be successful until you master your psychology

This book is well written and entertaining in some parts listening to first hand experiences of some novice traders.

The hardest part of becoming a successful trader isn’t the strategies but mastering your own thoughts and impulses. This book really helps you to become aware of your thoughts and provides really constructive tips on how to overcome them the impulses and behaviours that take us from being lucky to consistently profitable.

From Traders to Traders

Really like the approach of going through real traders real experiences and how they've coped with the issues and then goin a bit deeper in to the issue in general.

Easy to listen, informative and in away entertaining due to the real life stories.

Thank you to the authors and all the traders that shared part of their jorney to benefit us all.

Great audio book on day trading!

Having read the two previous books by Andrew Aziz, I thought I would give the audio book on mastering trading psychology a go. The book is great, giving you an insight into the experiences of normal every day retail traders helping you to learn from what works for them but more importantly their mistakes. The narrator is very good and there is only a couple graphs/figures to refer to which are easily referenced and found on the bearbulltrader website. Would highly recommend.

Not bad, but there's better out there

There are some valuable insights and recommendations in this book, but there is better material out there. A few of the chapters were useful, but others went on too long, and some gave what I believe to be bad advice. For example, the author goes on for a long time talking about how you should have a daily profit limit, even if you hit that limit on your first trade. There may be some rationale for this, but if you're trading well and the market is working for you, to walk away is to sacrifice a better than usual chance to make more profits. Sure, you could lose and be disappointed, but this is true about all trading events. When things are working we should leverage those opportunities.

The author also says that there is no reason to have a large account for day trading, saying that a few thousand dollars is enough. This might be true for cheap stocks, but will be completely useless if trading expensive stocks like NVDIA, which is where the best action can be on some days.

Finally, I'm not a fan of the narraters voice, which lacks the inflection of some of the better narrators out there. I've listened to a lot of books on trading, and when a narrator has a gravely repetitive voice like this one, it's hard to listen for very long in one session.

Still, there is some useful information in this book, so if you have the time, go ahead and listen to pick up what's valuable to you. But don't read this book, if you haven't already read the classic, "Trading in the Zone."

Really great anecdotal advice.

There are lots of examples that I happened to relate to in this book. Like living on the West Coast and having to trade while I have another job. Of course resilience and determination are important if you want to trade but it's still nice to hear for motivation. Lots of practical advice in the form of forum posts from a trading community. Good to hear that traders go through the same problems at first...and maybe continue to deal with.

Great book

One of the things that hit me the most is the importance of discipline, not just in trading but in life. As life does on it is easy to get more complacent this is a good reminder how important it is to stayed disciplined always. One of the quotes I taken to heart is: You cannot be more disciplined in your trading than you are in your life.”

No BS very well laid out content

I am not much for writing reviews but I just had to do for this one. This book delivers on the title. It elaborates on a few main problems that are experienced by beginner/intermediate traders and gives a proper way of handling things. Market is 10% knowledge and 90% psychology. Love it.

perfect book for beginners

I've read many books on trading over the years and many of them were on techniques. But this book Really dug in to how you should operate as in trader . Although technique is important how you Think and behave is more important than the way you trade.
I really feel that this was The most helpful book I have read in learning to trade.

Trading info fantastic but....

5 star for sure if only the chapter on nutrition was gone. came off as a personal lecture. I've been on the carnivore diet for over a year and healthier than ever.
