About this listen
Brigitte Gabriel lost her childhood to militant Islam. In 1975 she was 10 years old and living in Southern Lebanon when militant Muslims from throughout the Middle East poured into her country and declared jihad against the Lebanese Christians, which became the first front in a worldwide jihad of fundamentalist Islam against non-Muslim peoples. For seven years, Brigitte and her parents lived in an underground bomb shelter, without running water or electricity and very little food. Because They Hate is a political wake-up call. Brigitte warns that the United States is threatened by fundamentalist Islamic theology in the same way Lebanon was - radical Islam will stop at nothing short of domination of all non-Muslim countries. Fiercely articulate and passionately committed, Gabriel tells her own story as well as outlines the history, social movements, and religious divisions that have led to this critical historical conflict.
It's the world's second-largest religion. Listen to more of our titles about Islam.©2006 Brigitte Gabriel (P)2007 Audio Renaissance, a division of Holtzbrinck Publishers LLCCritic reviews
"Brigitte Gabriel's story is at once intensely personal and possesses global significance....[Her] words should be read, and studied carefully, by all the law enforcement and government officials of the West as well as by everyone who values freedom." (Robert Spencer, author of The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam (and the Crusades))

A subject from the heart of Brigitte Gabriel, even more appropriate now than it was 20 plus years ago.
Extremely well informed & based, first hand, upon her own life's experiences. Having heard her speak on numerous occasions online this audiobook was a chance to unpack a lot of the extremely condensed information she rarely gets the time to impart during interviews.
The history, through which I have lived, is in many cases 'News to me', thanks to the biased and dumbed down reporting that I heard from during the last 40 plus years. Had our supposedly wonderful BBC been showing a fraction of this to the people in the UK, maybe we wouldn't have the apologists, activists & terrorists which now 'infest' some of our major cities. This has recently been brought to the fore by the protest marches through my city of Norwich. This did not look like the people of Norfolk that I have been born & brought up among & my parents & grandparents too.
The fervour & violence is something I only ever saw happen on TV & abroad. To be sure it has been here for a long time but now it's right here amongst us.
A real eye opener and 'call to arms' by Brigitte, I cannot fully explain how much this book has improved my perception of this complex subject & thank her from the bottom of my heart for such an inspiring publication.
The one biggest takeaway from this is that what I am seeing online, I rarely bother with TV/Radio news now, is an exact echo of the content here in this book, WRITTEN OVER 20 YEARS AGO!!!, so history repeats itself.
As our beloved Winston Churchill said to parliament in 48, 'Those who ignore the lessons of history are doomed to repeat the mistakes of others'. After the very first 9/11 outside Vienna we 'forgot' that lesson, it's come back to get us, better equipped and far more insidious than it was then. Thank you Brigitte.

Because she loves
Since discovering Brigitte, I have listened to many interviews and podcasts with her. I knew elements of her story but to hear it, in detail, in her own beautiful, strong voice had me listening spellbound for the entire book. I both cried and felt empowered by this book. thanks to her for sharing her incredible story.
It must be horrible for her to have been talking about this for years ..... look where we are now in 2024.
