About this listen

The Rebellion may have heroes like Jyn Erso and Luke Skywalker. But the Empire has Inferno Squad.

After the humiliating theft of the Death Star plans and the resulting destruction of the battle station, the Empire is on the defensive. In response to this stunning defeat, the Imperial Navy has authorized the formation of an elite team of soldiers, known as Inferno Squad. Their mission: infiltrate and eliminate the remnants of Saw Gerrera's Partisans. Following the death of their leader, the Partisans have carried on his extremist legacy, determined to thwart the Empire - no matter what the cost. Now, Inferno Squad must prove their status as the best of the best and take down the Partisans from within. But as the danger intensifies and the threat of discovery grows, how far will Inferno Squad go to ensure the safety of the Empire?

This must be my new favorite star wars novel. With all the music by John Williams and Janina Gavankar as a reader it was perfect. And still sits very well with the main storyline.

The best squad of the empire indeed

Great characters, excellent writing, suburb narration and a wonderfully done sound design that makes you feel immersed in the words of the galaxy far far away.

Loved it.

Great characters performance and story I love the introduction of a former clone wars character not going to say whom it is because of spoilers but if you love battlefront 2 you'll love this amazing book

Great Prequel

I enjoyed the Battlefront II campaign more than most, it seems, but even I wouldn't disagree with the criticism that the character development felt rather rushed. Christie Golden has done a really impressive job with this book of rectifying this issue, so that decisions made by characters in the game that seemed rash or illogical now feel poignant, understandable, and even tragically inevitable. I think I actually like this book more than Dark Disciple, which is widely considered to be Golden's best.

Janina Gavankar does great work on some characters, and some not-so-great work on others. Fans of Star Wars audiobooks are frankly spoiled by the absurdly versatile talents of Marc Thompson, and I do not envy anyone that has to work with his high standards looming over their head. That being said, Gavankar unfortunately misfired on a few of the characters in this book, an example of this being the odd surfer drawl she gave to a couple of the Dreamers, making them very difficult to take seriously, even in very tense situations. She did, however, absolutely nail Sen, and she also did a great job on Iden and Del.

In summary, it's a great story, and I'd actually suggest it's essential for fans of the Battlefront II campaign; however, I would say there are moments which I think would be better read from the page rather than heard from this audiobook.

Very additive to the Battlefront II campaign story
