Long but worth it
A good listen. The story teller tells the tale with the right amount of pace. The tale is believable and credible. I really enjoyed the detail and interwoven facts with possible events of the recent path. Go on. Have a listen. You won’t regret it.

Prime story telling.
I read book 1 ages ago but going through these 4 does give a deeper feel for the person begging the title.
loved all of them!

the Assassin series was much better paced than previous books Black. however the ending was pretty poor and left me wondg if the 5th book would be worth it or not ..

Dick Hill can't do Mexican accents
This set of books is a good deal, many hours of mindless adventure for not much money. And Dick Hill is a great narrator . . . except when he is tasked with doing Latino accents. Of course the conceit of a novel set in Mexico where people speak English with Mexican accents is silly to begin with . . . so in keeping with that siliness, Dick uses an accent that is right out of central casting of every bad movie Mexican bandito. I work with Latinos daily, and have for many years . . . and I have yet to hear a single one speak the way Dick Hill does. He can pronounce simple Spanish words, which is good . . . but that accent. Oh, God, 40 hours of horrible Spanglish, I want my ears back . . .

A Little Too Violent
Although Mexico’s drug-based economy certainly was depicted with authenticity, some of the violence was hard to get through. Some of the violence did not really advance the story. Dick Hill’s performance, however, never disappoints.

Clever and entertaining.
A gruesome tale that provides a glimpse into cartel life. It was well written with clever plots and phenomenal narration.
Felt left hanging though!

Starts out good
The first story is the best IMHO. After that it drifts away from the Assassin and focuses on the police inspector and his life.
I’ll get the 5th book in hopes that it returns to the original story line

What a big waste of time
The narrator did a splendid job with a sub standard work. Russell Blake is now a resident of my “never read” so called authors.

I’m not a prude but…
No wonder they sold me 4 books for the price of one. I love reading this genre, but this author goes into gruesome descriptions, going on and on with hideous murders, and gruesome descriptions of the worst treatments. He goes into detail on raping children, children murdering their parents: far beyond making a point to further the story.
I wouldn’t be surprised to know that several narrators refused to tell these stories.

Weak
Story just did not keep my attention. Background noise at best. Main line and sub stories felt rushed. As if there was no real plot or tie in. The reader did the same three voices for all the characters and had very little inflection.

Just “Ok”
First, the performance was not great, I’m the narrator has a great voice but I do not think this was the performance he was best suited for with his Spanish accents and annunciation left me confused at times. Second, the story was at times hard to follow and never gripped me. The first book in the series was by far the best and descriptions in general were great but then I’d be lost almost immediately trying to find out what’s happening. I’m not angry that I purchased this but I would not recommend it wholeheartedly.
