Summary

Five years ago, I nearly lost everything. But there was a glimmer of hope on that darkest night. There was him—a stranger I could never forget. Now, I’m finally getting the fresh start I’ve longed for. But when I show up to interview for a nanny position in the small mountain town, the single dad has startlingly familiar blue eyes.

Eyes that have haunted my dreams for the past five years.

Lawson Hartley is everything I know I can’t have. Older, handsome, and my boss.

Not to mention the shadows in his eyes that tell me he has demons, too.

Still, he seems to understand me better than anyone I’ve ever met. So gentle and careful of my scars, yet somehow making me believe I’m stronger than I ever thought possible.

And when his lips touch mine, I’m lost. We find what we've been missing in each other. But the terrors of my past aren’t done with me yet, and this time, Lawson might not be able to save me...

Perfection!

I finished the ebook of Ashes of You a few weeks ago and it left me with the biggest book hangover. I wasn’t ready to let the Hartley clan go yet, so I was delighted to relive the magic with this epic audiobook. Ashes of You is a breathtakingly beautiful romance with the perfect mix of drama, heart, suspense and passion. There were so many magical moments in it, and I never wanted it to end. As always, the characters were perfection and I was so invested in Hallie and Lawson. Never have a couple deserved their happily ever after more.

Sebastian York expertly captured Lawson’s growly protectiveness and Ava Erikson’s portrayal of Hallie’s quiet strength was perfection. They brought all the drama, tension and passion to life and I couldn’t get enough of it!

Ashes of You is book 5 in the Lost & Found series, and although it reads well as a stand-alone, you’ll want to get to read the whole series as these characters are well worth getting to know!

Great End To The Series

This was a highly anticipated release as I have loved every book in this series and this didn't disappoint. It delivered the found family, heartwarming, emotional story I have come to expect from the Hartley's.

Hallie & Lawson have so much depth to their characters and story both individually and as they come together as a couple. The way Hallie connects with and steps up for Lawson's sons made my chest ache in the best way. The suspense aspect of this was done well overall but I called who the bad guy was from very near the start so for that reason this book doesn't quite make the 5 star mark for me unfortunately. The narrators were fantastic as always. A great end to a fantastic series, I'm going to miss these characters but I can't wait for what comes next from this author.

A wonderful blend of heart and emotion

It’s the turn of the oldest son and last man standing, Lawson to find his happiness in Ashes of You, and while I hate that this book means the Lost and Found series is over, I adored Hallie and Law’s story. What a perfect and heartfelt ending to what has been an amazing and emotional series. I loved Law and his three boys, and he has got to be my favourite Hartley brother. His and Hallie’s story was filled with so much love, pain and hesitancy as both were afraid of taking that first step. They’d initially met at the worst moment of Hallie’s life when he found her in the snow, saving her from certain death but although that meeting was fleeting, his blue eyes had made a lasting impression and got her through some of the difficult times that would lie ahead. She’d never thought they’d met again until five years later when she applied for a job as a nanny to a single father not knowing it was for his family, but it wasn’t long before the demons of her past found her once again bringing danger to Law’s doorstep.

This book was a wonderful blend of heart and emotion as Hallie fought to overcome her past trauma and find some vestige of normalcy, set against the picturesque background of Cedar Ridge where danger lurked in the mountains making this the perfect combination of everything I love in a romantic suspense book plus we got to revisit with the ever increasing Hartley family.

Ava Erickson and Sebastian York brought all the strength and emotions to their performances and did justice to Catherine Cowles beautiful writing in Ashes of You. They captured the essence of this fantastic story and kept me absorbed as they brought Law and Hallie to life with all their doubts, fears and hesitancy. Five well deserved stars to both narrators for their performances here.

The best of the series!

Catherine Cowles. Do I need to say more? Every book I listen to is the perfect mix of suspense and romance, a little angst, and that small town family feel that has me stuck in the story from the first sentence read. Lawson and Hallie's story is no exception, and it's one that is still occupying my mind a day later. Hallie experienced the worst of the worst. Kidnapped and tortured, she didn't think she would ever get out, but when the window came she ran. Lawson, a policeman, is there for the rescue and the bond is instant. Now five years later, Lawson needs a nanny and Hallie applies for the job. Back in the town that haunts her, she is determined to keep living. Lawson's three boys are in need of a woman's touch. Each one has a niche that needs to be filled, and she is the one that fills it. Lawson too is taken with her, but he can't act on his feelings, after all, he is significantly older than her and is her boss. Or can he? Stolen moments, close quarters, past demons and danger lurking, this story is packed with all the feelings. I love the single dad, dealing with all the ages of kids. I love the attitude Hallie brings to everything. Her positivity is contagious. I love the slow burn feelings these two have. And I love the family and friends that come to the aid of them all. Characters we know well and love come in and make this listen like coming home to the family. This is a fabulous listen.

Sebastian York and Ava Erickson don't even need to be introduced. These two are fantastic together as always. York brings out all the emotions in Lawson, anger, frustration, fear and love. Erickson plays Hallie perfectly as she deals with her past and lives for her present. Each one enhances the character as they bring them to life and make this listen one that could not be put down.

The romance I didn't know I needed

Hallie and Lawson is the love story I don't know I needed. The twists and turns of the suspense romance kept me guessing. The HEA including Lawson's 3 boys was incredibly heart warming.

Fantastic narrations for an amazing final book of the series.

Fantastic narrations for an amazing final book of the series.

Ashes of you, final book of the Lost &Found series.

Could not put this book down!

I have loved every book of this series, with anticipation building for each and every character, after Roan, Lawson was the one I needed to know his story!

What a story Catherine has given them.

Finally finding out the reason for Lawson’s marriage breakdown was both heartbreaking and angering!

However, Hallie’s back story was soul destroying, a true horror story!

Bringing these two back together after their first meeting all those years ago was a call! I couldn’t wait for Lawson to open that door, edge of my seat!

They had so much working against them but they managed to win through it, even with all the horror that was thrown in their way they managed to come out triumphant.

I loved the kids, Luke broke my heart, Charlie was cute, but Drew, that kid had me in stitches. 🤣

I can’t believe this is the end for them. I love this family, I’m sad 😞

The bonus Epilogue was amazing…I needed more though 🤷🏼‍♀️

I am really looking forward to Fragile Sanctuary that sneak peek 👀 I can’t wait, bring on Anson and Rhodes….need Anson’s story.

Swoony romance plus edge of your seat suspense!

I adored everything about this story!! Really wonderful narration was just the cherry on the top of a fantastic book!
A single dad with three boys who I promise will steal your heart! A heroine who just needs a little support to find out how strong she really is!

Sheriff Lawson Hartley hires a nanny to help him get life with three boys under control but he signed on for more than he bargained for when the new nanny turns out to be a young woman he had helped rescue from a horrific situation five years earlier.

Hallie Astor is ready to face her demons and move on but her past isn’t ready to let her go just yet!!

Ashes of You is swoony romance, edge of your seat suspense that will keep you turning pages from start to finish. It is an absolutely amazing story to cap off already awesome series.

Perfect Read and Listen

I was eagerly awaiting Lawson story.
Wow Catherine did not disappoint with Lawson and Hallie’s story.
Lawson is juggling being a dad to 3 boys and the Chief of Police, until he decides to get a nanny.
That Nanny brings memories of 5 years previously, the scars, dramas and memories.
The story has you hooked from the first page. Perfect ending to this wonderful series.
The narration was perfect!

Love this little family🥰

“I always knew you were special, Halston.”—-guess who?!

The Plot Twist Queen worked her magic and wrote an epic story for Law…and his boys! They are all so deserving of a HEA!

Speaking of…Hallie is not only deserving of her HEA but she works pretty darn hard for it too!

I love this town and its families!! Fingers crossed we will revisit for a Luke & Vi story💜

Absolutely Brilliant & Heartfelt! Amazing Story & Narration🎧

Absolutely Brilliant & Heartfelt! Amazing Story & Narration🎧 Ashes of You The Lost & Found Series, Book 5 By: Catherine Cowles Narrated by: Ava Erickson, Sebastian York I love, love, loved this book so much and am almost tempted to say it is the best of the series and my favorite, but that would not be fair to the earlier books because they are all just as amazing. Catherine Cowles never disappoints, and I think she has actually outdone herself with Lawson & Hallie’s story. Hartley Lawson, Chief of the Police, single father of three boys, Luke, an angsty teenager, Drew, the middle child and the charmer who is coming into his own, and the youngest is Charlie who is absolutely adorable. Work and family keep Hartley busy, and he needs help with his boys and around the house, and places an ad for a nanny. Hallie Astor went through a horrific and traumatic ordeal, she is the sole survivor of a killer, a madman who was never captured. She is tired of just surviving and wants to take control of her life again, so she goes back to the location where it happened, applies for a job, a nanny position that comes with a place to live. When she arrives, she comes face to face with the man who rescued her, the one with the blue eyes she would never forget. Hartley was not expecting to see her again, and he did not recognize her name from the application because she changed it to avoid recognition. He felt an instant connection with her, and it was not just because of their past. She was also the best candidate for the job and he was happy she accepted it. Despite Hallie still dealt with her own inner demons, Hartley was understanding and protective of her. She was great with the children, despite her anxiety and PTSD, especially with Luke, who had some serious anger issues. Then Hallie’s past comes back to haunt her when girls go missing and bodies are found. Is it a copycat or the same serial killer who had gone silent? Cowles keeps you on your toes, pointing you in different directions while trying to figure out who the killer was. I loved how everything played out in this book, all the layers to the story, the complexity of characters, their growth and development was fantastic and it was great to watch them grow and come into their own. It is a wonderfully written and plotted story and has the perfect balance of drama, angst, mystery, twists and turns, thrilling suspense and a beautiful romance. Catherine Cowles, thank you for another exceptional story and emotional rollercoaster ride. 🎧 📚🎧 And for the amazing narration, Ava Erickson and Sebastian York did a fantastic job bringing these characters to life and do so with a complete understanding of who they are portraying. Their character voices are fitting, children included, and they were believable in every role they performed. Erickson’s Hallie was perfection, grasping every aspect of her personality, her vulnerabilities, empathy and caring side to her strength and determination. York nailed it as Hartley, fell in to the role naturally, also grasping all of his sides of his personality. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling them all. These entertaining storytellers are a pleasure to listen to and their narration elevates this exceptional story to another level. Thank you for another fabulous listen.
