Summary

Sadie Alden got on a plane with no intention of looking back. She sold up her cafes back home and took up an opportunity that looked too good to be true. A beach side café on a remote island where no one knows her name, doesn’t that sound like heaven? Well...things are never simple.

News of her arrival seemed to travel fast across the island of Hallow Haven, but the locals know things about Sadie that she hasn’t told anyone, things that even she doesn’t know. She’s barely started a tour of the place before she is dragged into a cellar to dodge the incoming storm. Her new friend Kate insists that Sadie accompany her on a damage check around the island.

First stop; the cemetery. It seems that there is one extra grave and it has been uncovered by the rain. This is the beginning of a whole new chapter for Sadie, she is about to learn things about herself that have been hidden all her life. It turns out she has relatives out here, and they are all witches too.

Hallow Haven is a place filled with ancient feuds, magic and secrecy. Sadie was brought here by fate and only she can bring peace to the islands that surround her. Who can she turn to for help? The hot Sheriff that is trying to keep his distance, the local hiking expert that appears when Sadie is in danger, or the ghost in her kitchen? Life’s a beach. All Wands on Deck is the first book in the Hallow Haven Witch Mysteries series.

Spell binding

I really enjoyed this book. This is the first book by this author that I have read or listened too but it won't be my last as the this story cast a spell over me and I want to find out what the author has in store for the characters. I think what I liked about the book is all the mystery surrounding the main character. Everybody knows more about her than she does herself. It is a fairly short story and most of that is spent setting up the situation, so don't expect too many suspects or a very heavy lead investigation but because of the great characters it didn't matter and I enjoyed it.
Sadie Alden leaves everything in her past behind her after a bad break up when she buys a cafe on an island she once visited while on holiday. What she thought of as a impulsive decision is anything but and it turns out she was destined to move there because she has a big part to play in the running of the island, like her ancestors before her. Her cousin was the last owner of the cafe and peace keeper. With her disappearance Sadie must take over the reins which she know nothing about and keep the peace between the different islands but that isn't so easy to do, especially when she stumbles over her cousins dead body hidden in the local cemetery. Who would want her dead? And are the rest of the employees at the cafe in danger? Sadie will have a lot of learning on the job to do if she hopes to catch her cousins killer, especially as there is magic about.
I liked the narrator. I have heard a few books narrated by her and found them all to be a pleasure to listen to, as she puts in a good performance.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Magical Mystery

All Wands on Deck
Hallow Haven Witch Mysteries, Book 1
By: Mara Webb
Narrated by: Naomi Rose-Mock
Length: 3 hrs and 35 mins

I must start by saying thank you to Mara Webb, I was given a free copy of this book and writing a review voluntary and honestly. I don't like to go into the plot of a story as this is always well covered in the books preface, I like to write about my experience of listening to the story.

I found that I really enjoyed this short story, it was very easy to absorb, pleasant and I became engaged with the quirky characters very quickly. The story is faced paced, and at no point did I find my mind was wandering off. I listened to the whole book in one go.

I think the story is a great start to a new series of four books, sadly at the minute only the first book is available on Audible but I am hoping that the other three are released soon as I would like to know what happens next.

Great story, great narration

I really enjoyed this, my first book by this author but definitely won't be my last, a super light paranormal mystery. Sadie arrives on Hallow haven to run the local cafe, within 24 hours she finds the body of the previous owner, the island is full of witches and she is the new peacekeeper, and she doesn't even believe magic is real. The story moves at a fast pace but does not feel rushed. The mystery has enough to keep you Interested and the writing is great. Narration is great, excellent easy to listen to and with a good range.
