Summary

Sadie Alden got on a plane with no intention of looking back. She sold up her cafés back home and took up an opportunity that looked too good to be true. A beach side café on a remote island where no one knows her name, doesn’t that sound like heaven? Well…things are never simple.

This is the beginning of a whole new chapter for Sadie; she is about to learn things about herself that have been hidden all her life. It turns out she has relatives out here, and they are all witches too.

Hallow Haven is a place filled with ancient feuds, magic, and secrecy. Sadie was brought here by fate, and only she can bring peace to the islands that surround her. Who can she turn to for help? The hot sheriff that is trying to keep his distance, the local hiking expert that appears when Sadie is in danger, or the ghost in her kitchen? Life’s a beach.

This three-book omnibus includes audiobooks 1-3 of the Hallow Haven Mystery Series. Included are: All Wands on Deck, Ghost Writer, and Witch In the Water

interesting story, awful narrator

I couldn't fully get into the story because the narrator may as well have been reading a menu. Stick to non-fiction please. Otherwise it was an interesting read with some good plot twists. I would happily read the other books in the series, but not narrated by her. I'm sure she's lovely, but her reading style isn't for me.

Charmed!

I got this audiobook via a promo code at my request and this is my voluntary review.

I really enjoyed this, thankfully my first book by this author was the full 1-3 boxset but definitely won't be my last, It has just the right mix of mystery magic humour and hint of romance I love. Narrated by Naomi Rose-Mock the performance matched the super light mystery tone.

This was a great listen on my daily commute to work and a nice seasonal change of pace from my usual thrillers or romances.

Sceptic Sadie arrives on Hallow haven to run the local cafe, and within 24 hoursAfter finding the body of the previous shop owner and finding out her role and placement on the island is not just by chance. the island is full of witches and she is the new peacekeeper, and she doesn't even believe magic is real. The story moves at a fast pace but does not feel rushed.

Nice little series

cozy mystery set. One of the best I have read in awhile. There was some repetition of phrasing throughout the 3 books that got slightly annoying but the laugh out loud moments more than made up for it. Loved, loved, suitable for all teenagers and up

Not Bad

This series should be listed as young adult or even teen.
The narrator does a good job and her voices are great.
The story is ok and has a good pace. The relationships are definitely young people.
If you like this category reading, then you'll enjoy this series.

Ghosts and witches and wolves, oh my!

~Disclaimer: I received a free audiobook copy of this book. ~

Ghosts and witches and wolves, oh my!

I enjoyed this book. It was fairly fluffy and I never felt much tension or concern for Sadies safety. Which is probably why it falls into the cozy category. There are still mysteries to be unraveled and I may pick up the other three books at a later date.

This is a case where the civilian mystery solver seems to actually have the authority to delve into murders. Sadie is the “peacekeeper” for the community and therefore gets to go where she will. Sadie herself is relatable and since she is new to the community and the concept of magic she works as a great introduction to the island and the shenanigans that go on there.

There is a hint of romance and interpersonal relationships that are shaping up. I’m not a fan of love triangles though; so this romance is a downside in my book.

I certainly like the chill nature of the story and getting to know all these different characters.

As far as the individual books, I think the first book is by far the strongest in this bundle. This world has potential, but I do want more of a clear set of rules for how the magic works because sometimes it just is too convenient and doesn’t always seem consistent. I’ll admit this might be my litrpg nerd coming through, but it isn’t like I expect a crunchy magic system....just one where I have at least a vague understanding of what the rules are.

The narration was good. It was consistently paced and professionally done. It is an easy listen.

Cute

This is easy listening with quirky characters and interesting mysteries. It includes witches, magic, werewolves and ghosts to name a few. A romance is developing. I recommend it to anyone that would like to while away an afternoon with some light-heartiness. The ‘cozy’ in the title describes it perfectly. Ms. Rose-Mock does a good job of changing voices for all the characters.
