Summary
OLD ENEMIES NEVER DIE
Cuba and the United States are in talks to normalize relations, something the old guard on the Communist-controlled island has vowed to stop - by any means necessary. Zayda de la Guardia, a rogue general in the Cuban security services, has gotten his hands on a nuclear weapon left over from the Cold War. He plans to launch it on Miami, an attack that could kill millions. There’s just one thing standing in his way: Special agent Jericho Quinn and his team have traveled undercover to Cuba to unravel de la Guardia’s plot before it ignites a nuclear holocaust. Thrown into a secret prison, pursued by assassins, and trapped on the tiny island during one of the worst hurricanes of the century, Quinn and his crew must survive a trial by fire to prevent an international confrontation that would make the Cuban Missile Crisis look like a fist fight.

For the love of god where is Tom
Why in the world after 7 books would you get a different narrator. This guy does not do a good job. He can't do a Cajun accent to save his life. His Cuban Hispanic is awful. He makes Jericho sound like a wimp. unless tom is either retired or something this change is a giant mistake. I own almost 700 audio books and this is this first review I have left because this is truly the first time I have felt let down. This is one of my favorite audio book series and it was just ruined by this hack of a narrator.

Different narrator from previous titles
The narrator is a new person, and is not a good as the prior narrator. He has totally lost the persona of the Cajun who is a staple in these stories, and overall leaves much to be desired. His volume changes up and down sentence by sentence, and I found it distracting and hard to listen to. Consequently, I rated the performance, good, but only three stars. The story by Marc Cameron is outstanding, and if I was only reading this but not listening, I would give it five stars. I choose Audible books because the performance usually adds a special element to the story, enhancing the plot. In this case, the performance of the narrator was workmanlike. I would call it adequate, but just.

Couldn’t even make it thru the first 5 minutes. The person reading fades out on every sentence makes for a horrible listen. This one goes back and ill get the book and read it myself.

Disappointing narration!
I'll cover the narration and the novel separately.
I was expecting either Tim Weiner or Luke Daniels to narrate, but it was Pete Bradbury, who I never heard of, instead. The narration for the first 90 minutes was so horrid that I almost gave up and returned the audio book. I suspect I just became accustomed to the narrator's style but narration while still subpar was acceptable. I will not purchase another Marc Cameron novel with Pete Bradbury narrating.
This is the first new novel in the Jericho Quinn series in more than 2.5 years. I suspect that is because author Marc Cameron has released two outstanding new novels in Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan series during that period. In his Jericho Quinn series Marc Cameron has done a wonderful job of developing the four major characters. I look forward to each new novel in this espionage series. In ACTIVE MEASURES he continues his excellent writing as he adds a new female character to the three. I hope he repeats with her in future novels. The novel is set almost exclusively set in Cuba where an army officer plans to set of a nuclear bomb left by the Soviet Union after in 1962 in Miami. (The publisher's summary is woefully inadequate in setting up the novel.) The novel itself is outstanding, but should I down rate it due to the disappointing narration? I decided on a small one star down rating.

Good story
The plot was a bit thin in places and needed some padding, but overall an enjoyable book.
The narrator was very bad! If I could, I would have given him -10. He swallowed the last couple of words of all sentences and that made it very difficult to hear. The recording volume is very low. I missed so much listening in the car, that I had to start the book from the beginning and listen on my headphones. Really irritating. Will not be listening to anything narrated by him again!

Terrible narration
I am a dedicated Jericho Quinn audiobook fan, but the narration on this book is more than just bad. It is horrendous. The voice keeps going to a whisper at the of a sentence and is hard to hear and understand. I cannot believe a producer would allow the continuation of recording the book with this narrator, much less put it out as finished product. What happened to Tom Weiner? The voices of the characters do not seem to fit and the Cajun accent for Thibodeaux is terrible. The story is good but is totally destroyed by the narration. I would have been better off reading the book.

I wish the publishing companies would vet the narrators before switching. This narrator was terrible, ruined the characters. This was very hard to continue. I'll try to finish but would not buy another book with this narrator and will return this title.

Not so good...
Ridiculous plot, and the change in narrator (Bradbury is okay but given an impossible task), means the loss of the great Cajun drawl of Jacques Tibedeau. Couldn’t keep my interest at all... returning it.
