Yeah not a fan of the new VA

So I did some research and found that the previous narrator simply didn't have the time to invest in this series when this series releases so frequently which is fair enough it happens. I am also mostly fine with the new VAs voice I actually think I prefer his neutral narration voice but his Artorian voice is horrible it's deep, solid and has none of the warm, sly old man that we had before and as Artorian is the main character and one of my favourite characters in general it pretty much kills a lot of my buzz for the series and I'm not sure if I'll pick the next one up.

changing the narrator at book 11 is a bad move

I dont want to sound like om bashing on the new narrator but we have gone from one of the best who has a different voice for each important chsracter to someone who sounds basicly the same all the time the book it still great but that magic Travis brought to the characters and the world is gone

good progress let down by the perfromance

while the narration has not ruined the story by any means it previouls had elevated it.
this rendition came across rather flatter. artorian is a mistivious trickter you empoddies love and care for
those he meets but the voice was not right it was too old and cranky to be him.

cal wasnt bad but the female voices needed work.

Still good after a change of narrator

While it is sad that Travis Baldree couldn't narrate this one, it's still a good listen.

New narrator & References

The new narrator, although a very good deliverer of the story, doesn't have the same flavour as the original narrator. New accents to characters and not overly varied voices make the story difficult to follow, as I no longer know who exactly is speaking.

It is absolutely difficult for the narrator who has come in to take over the voices and intonations of the different characters that have been built over the entire series so far.

On the note of references, wow there are so many in this book! From gaming to memes and films, there are some parts choc-full and others more sparse.
Although I did not find it overly annoying I did find myself laughing at the silliness and unnecessity of some of them as they were either outright quotes or some sort of backhanded workaround to not sound like 9gag.

Story wise it follows the other books just as it should not diverging from it's original design. it just feeling different as the narrator is trying to make it in his own style. While not wrong, Different, just Different...

just my opinion

I am giving the book its self a five star review well written and includedes more of the original characters from the devine dungeon series
the change of narrator was a bit jarring he has done other good works but it ruined the emertion of the book for me ot would have been better if this narrator was introduced in another spin off series in my opinion

New Narrator , same amazing story

OK so here the thing it's never nice moving to a new narrator in the middle of a series but it can happen. that being said i didn't find the chance to be that bad at all, I still knew who was who and to be honest after an hour I didn't care.

I do love how this series is filling in all the little hole in the main story. the climax of this book was very satisfying.

WHERES TRAVIS

I don't know if I am just bias but the narrator was a not good at all. I ended up returning the audiobook to read the actual book and the story was great but i just couldn't take the narrator.

I can't go on

The new narrator is not bad, but this far in kills it for me. I don't know who anyone is and keep getting lost in the story. Just going to get the book and read it.

An Excellent Transition!

I've seen at least one review saying that they shouldn't have swapped narrators. I felt that the transition was smoothe and unproblematic, and in many ways, improved the book! John Pirhalla did an excellent job!

I also think that this book was very excellent. It felt to me as if solid progress was being made in progressing the storyline! That, in and of itself, made this one of the best of recent installments. As always, it was a pleasure to see my favorite light-based grandpa in a genre dominated by dark-aligned anti-heroes, and if I had to sum up the book in a single word, I would call it "fun!"

The little care authors have for listeners

This was a piss poor narrator swap the new guy didn't clearly didn't take the time to listen to the other 10 books. 70% of main side characters names were pernounced in a completely different way to where you had no idea who the new guy was talking about. And the guy missed pronounce historical words regularly and just went with it. I love the story but the narrator who they replaced Travis with was a piss poor decision. I'm not saying hes bad but he was not the right fit for after 10 books with one narrator. The miss pronunciations were distracting enough but complete accent changes on top of all that made it worse especially with the lack of consistency. It was like listening to a first book again trying to relearn characters with few spats of enjoyment from the great story. Makes it seem like the authors give very little care about what an audio listener cares about and says screw you to the listener and the story.

Overall good story but the narrator change was the equivalent of an actor change mid season on one of your favorite TV shows and didn't research the part then proceeded to wing it.

Not the same without Travis Baldree Narrating.

Travis Baldree adds more to characters personality, feelings. Adjusting to to a new Narrator this late in to a story's life line is to hard to pick out all the different new voices and inflections that add to the storytelling experience. Adding a new Narrator without the same range or development to different characters to distinguish between each other, making the whole world seem flat and boring.

Was this book meant as a prank?

Ok, so I’m 10 books in the series. Obviously I like it. But the overuse of pop culture references was too much! I like the occasional line that makes you think but this didn’t go 3 lines without a reference that wasn’t relevant to the series.

Changing a voice actor after 10 books is a bold move. I understand that the original reader was busy so I am taking that into account. On the plus side the new reader did a great job with pronunciations matching the old reader. On the down side some of the voices were so opposite of the old voiced it was very hard to tie them together.

I hope if there are more books both the fourth wall breaking references, and the voices get better.

An Admirable Accomplishment! Absolutely Awesome!!

Do you like wordplay for the sake of humor? Getting into the nitty gritty of building not one world, but two worlds? Do you like old men putting demons in a hurt locker?!

Of course you do, this is the eleventh book in the series, after all!

This book displays all this, plus more heartfelt self-reflection and exploring all the ways Artorian's law affects everything around him. Not only that, but as usual more reasons on how things transpire in other series are explained!

The new narrator did an outstanding job at fleshing out each character! Each character was completely defined and easy to recognize throughout the book!

I can hardly wait for books 12-21! lol

Bring back the previous narrator

Who the heck is who, and how am I supposed to understand anything, I can't figure out what is going on and have to stop multiple times just trying to get through the first hr of just listening, the voices are wrong and distract me, pronouncing names differently has made it utterly impossible to follow the story as I can't figure who is talking and to who and about what. I've listened to this entire series a dozen times and loved every moment of it but after listening to the series that often the different narrator has completely ruined the series for me, If I can finish the book it'd be nice to know the story but I'm leaning towards returning it entirely
