Summary

Two hearts on the mend and one adorable mutt get a new leash on love in this romantic short story from award-winning author Rebekah Weatherspoon.

Andre Monroe is ready to move on from heartbreak, and the first step is bringing home his rescue pup. He’d bonded instantly with the playful Zeus and was already planning their first adventures. But one thing he definitely hadn’t daydreamed about was Zeus accidentally being promised to someone else - or that he might go home empty-handed and brokenhearted all over again.

Janelle Johnson is not giving up her claim to Zeus. He already has a hold on her heart (and his own Instagram handle). After the year she’d had, she needed this dog. But when she sees the disappointment of the big, burly handsome man who’s clearly just as in love with the dog as she is, she proposes a deal to Andre - for one month they’ll co-parent the dog. How hard could it be?

Both of them agree to the unusual arrangement. Sharing a dog with a complete stranger isn’t quite the walk in the (dog) park they imagined, but as they work together to give Zeus a loving future, their four-legged friend might not be the only one who’s found a happily ever after.

Light-hearted chick lit

A predictable but light hearted novella which is easy listening..(No mention of the dog getting up to funny things like tying them together with the lead like in the picture).

Sorry, it’s a pass.

Too cliché. Both narrators are great but impersonating the female voice by male was quite annoying. so rather reading alternative chapters they should have read their parts instead.
And after you are 15 minutes into the book, the ending is quite obvious.
Sorry, but wouldn’t recommend it.

Just what I needed

I love romance stories and read/listen to a lot of them. But I loved this one for a variety of reasons.

Lovable characters, great story plot, fab performances. But the thing I love the most is the representation. When the characters remind you of yourself not just personality wise but physically too. It’s nice to read a story about a black couple that isn’t couched in struggle love.
Thanks for this Rebecca!

Quick Chic Lit

Light chic lit. Easy short listen to send you off to sleep. Wasn't really what I'd expected.

Sweet, Sexy, Intelligent Read

What a fun, witty, delightful, and romantic story! Loved it. The full stories of the main characters were weaved together in such a sweet, artful way. I loved the injection of yearning and sexiness without being over the top. The narrators had me identifying with both characters—pace and sentiment on point—brilliant performance. Overall, this was a great read.

Just the right amount of story and romance

Wow. I really enjoyed this one. Awesome narration.

A Walk in the Park by Rebekah Weatherspoon is absolutely delightful. It features Andre and Janelle who received the exact adoption email about a dog named Zeus.

I chuckled and smiled through this novella-length audiobook. Very likable characters and an excellent connection/chemistry despite their adversarial first impression. This is another winner from Rebekah Weatherspoon and it’s on audible plus. What a cute audiobook.

Must love dogs

This novella was an absolute treat. Zeus helps Janelle and Andre through their respective breakups and of course they both get a HEA. I thought it was interesting how Weatherspoon connected so many themes related to mental health (depression or depressive mood, work burnout, dating anxiety) without it reading like an insert issue here. We also love a Big Nasty description because I have an idea what Andre looks like 🤭 Highly recommend

CN: cheating, mental health topics, dating manipulation, dog allergic reaction,

light-hearted drama free romp

this is a story of two people who met each other, like each other and get together. A drama free, low spice, easy read perfect for a stressful time. Well written and the narrator performances are quite good. Strongly recommend for a beach read or hard time in life when you don't need any more drama!

good afternoon listen

this was a quick story to listen to and from work. the plot was good and Zeus was a great side character. the narration was. bit slow at times and the male voice was a tad unrealistic, but I laughed quite a bit. download it, it's worth the 2 hours.

Wonderful, of course!

I love Rebekah’s work and this is no exception. Her characters are always well rounded and have excellent families and friends. Now I want to hear about every character in this thing falling in love. Is there going to be a sequel?
