Summary
What happens when an almost 30-year-old virgin agrees to let her Scottish footballer best friend give her some lessons in seduction?
Lots of banter, awkwardness, jealousy, and heat.
Midfielder Maclay "Mac" Logan is a loud-mouthed, tattooed ginger content with focusing on football. But when an adorable, freckled seamstress comes barreling into his life, he finds Netflix-And-Bickering with her to be his new favorite pastime.
Freya Cook is used to being the invisible woman with a needle and thread, offering cheeky punchlines as she helps dress London's finest. She's plus-sized in body and spirit, and other than her friendship with Mac, talking to the opposite sex is one skill she never mastered.
However, after one innocent game of Never Have I Ever, Mac offers to play Love Coach for Freya.
What neither of them see coming are the feelings that develop when the clothes come off.
Now they’re both about to learn the biggest lesson of all: Don't fall in love with your best friend.

One of the best productions I've ever heard
Thoroughly enjoyed this audio book. My first time listening to Will and his performance was absolutely wonderful. Both narrators were fantastic. This production really brought to life Amy daws characters. Draws you in and you get pulled into it. I couldn't stop for long before tuning in again. Brought such a happy smile to my face listening to these two.

Lovely story until the epilogue
First of all the story is lovey and starts off really well! I really did enjoy this read and it was lovely that the protagonist is a plus size woman. However the end was a bit of a let down (spoiler alert coming)
Why oh why does our main character loose weight in the end? Couldn’t she just be plus size and happy? This book would have been perfect if it was she lived fattily ever after instead of she lived slimmer ever after

Not for Scots
It took me exactly 2 months to listen to this 10 hour and 42 minute audiobook. That’s a loooooong time. If that tells you all you need to know, then you can stop reading now! However, even with that long time frame, every time I did pick up the book and listen again, I was right back into the story, so it was definitely memorable.
First to the narrators. Will Watt was terrific as Mac. His Scottish accent was authentically delicious and very easy to listen to. He was clear and performed with nuances that I’m sure the author would be delighted with. His English accent was just as decent although his South African turn was slightly dubious - but then I’m no expert and at least I identified it as what it was supposed to be!
Equally, Charlotte Cole as Freya played the character to a T. Her accent was something only a native could pull off and while it started to grate on me after a while (sorry!), it was on point and excellently performed. Her Scottish accent when speaking as Tilly (Mac’s sister) was, well, pretty bad, but it was very short so we can just gloss over that!
The narration is performed in duet - which means that the narrators interact in the story and read the lines said by their characters. I’m not partial to this style over dual narration - or vice versa - and I thought it worked well, sounded smooth and was easy to follow.
I’ve enjoyed Amy Daws’ writing before. She’s funny, silly, yet creates characters that you can both empathise with and relate to. To start with, I felt the same way about Freya. She was quirky, sure, but she was completely herself and that in some way was very admirable. As time went on she got a little bit irritating, in my opinion, and even got a little embarrassing, which I hate in a book. I never want cringe.
Mac again was a nice guy - funny, likeable and at times adorably clueless. I loved his complete acceptance of Freya and he couldn’t understand her hang-ups which was sweet. He definitely came down in my estimation as we got to the big fallout, however. He said some nasty, hurtful things that were borderline unforgivable and it made the flip and realisation of feelings slightly dubious to me.
Overall, Freya and Mac were a cute couple and it was a fun slow-burn from friends to lovers. There was just enough heat between the couple and enough banter to keep you chuckling.
And now for the ranty portion of my review. I would strongly advise any British people, but especially Scottish people, to avoid this book. It’s so horrifically obvious that the writer of our couple - who are both British (Freya is English and Mac is Scottish) is herself not from Britain. So, so, so many incorrect uses of our words, phrases and sayings; It jarred terribly. It got to the point that I realised I was listening to the book with a permanently scrunched face, just cringing by what had been said and anticipating the next clanger yet to come. Good God, it was bad. Like another reviewer pointed out - how hard would it be to get a real-life British person to read your book before publishing? But as it was, it was just more of that dreaded cringe that I hate.
I’m still going to read Amy Daws novels in the future, but I’m going to avoid any book with characters from Scotland, probably Britain as a whole. It’s such a shame as this would have been a cute story had it only been set in America with American characters. So not completely terrible, but it was definitely the narration and production that pulled this story up to 3 stars.

When I read this book I absolutely loved it. It was one of my favourites in this series but listening to it in audible made it so much more. The Narrators really brought these brilliant characters to life.
Charlotte And will did such an amazing job with this one, the accents, the emotions so beautifully real. I could listen to this again and again, and to be honest I probably will.

Pure perfection! Ohhh my!!
Oh, lordy. This sweet, sassy, sexy, emotional, all-encompassing friends to lovers romance is everything. And I mean EVERYTHING. It ticks off so many of my boxes ... it's borderline ridiculous. A swoon-worthy Scotsman - although he is truly a bit daft at times that I wanted to smack some sense into him - deliciously voiced by the talented Will M. Watt (if I had to name my favorite male narrator - it would be him, hands down) and one cheeky, feisty, smart-mouthed heroine, whose skills with the opposite sex are ...uhm, expandable and much too innocent for her age, all perfectly brought to life by the amazing Charlotte Cole. The banter and bickering between those two is out of this world. A match made in heaven. I smiled, I laughed out loud, I cried, I swooned, I screamed and then I laughed some more. It's utter brilliance and definitely one of my favorite friends to lovers romances out there. I need more of Amy Daws' characters' kind of banter, more hunky Scots- and Englishmen and more Charlotte Cole and Will M. Watt goodness. Again, match made in heaven. MORE please!!

Blindsided was such an awesome story. This friends to lovers novel with its likable, relatable characters, hilarious banter, emotional moments and steamy scenes had me hooked from beginning to end, I enjoyed this story as Freya and Mac had me laughing and highly amused. I loved seeing the progression of their relationship and their story gave me all the feels. This was an enjoyable tale and I would highly recommend it to all lovers of friends to lovers romance.
This duet narration was absolute perfection. I loved Will and Charlotte's voices. They did an excellent job with the characters, with the accents, with the emotions. They had great pace and timing and really brought the story to life. It was an absolute pleasure listening to them narrate this novel.

✫✫ 5 Stars ✫✫ LOVED IT!!!!
Man I devoured this book! I loved the characters and their relationship. It was so great to read about a female lead who had flaws. Freya had a lot of self esteem issues and to be honest, they are the same thoughts that I think many of us have everyday. I loved how she came out of her shell and with the help of her friends and her man she learned to love herself. First I fell in love with Mac, then with their friendship, then I fell in love with Freya and finally I fell head over heels in love with their relationship. The banter between them was off the charts. I laughed so much during this book. Without giving any spoilers, I just have to say this book had the BEST scene ever in it that was seriously funny but extremely thought provoking. I am not surprised about how much I loved this book though because I expect nothing less from this Author.
The narration, as always with all Amy's books was PERFECT. I loved all the accents and I love when a voice fits a characters personality and Will Watt and Charlotte Cole fit like a glove.

Mac-n-Cookie!
This book deserves a million stars. I loved it from the beginning to the end. This was my first Scottish/Cornish (And Amy Daws) Romance novel and if they are all like this – I’m hooked. This book was the friends-to-lovers story done right.
It starts off with two completely platonic friends that literally Netflix and Chill. Mac is a tattooed, alpha-male, football player and Cookie (Mac’s nickname for Freya) is a seamstress with insecurity about her weight/size. Freya decides to confide in her best friend about how awkward she is around guys and can’t date because of it – he becomes her love coach to help her out.
Here is what I LOVE LOVE LOVE about this book.
1. Not only are both characters loveable alone, they are loveable together
2. Their friendship is solid. It isn’t like one of those friendships where the female character secretly pines away for her cute guy friend. Nope. It all happens unexpectedly and organically
a. He pretends to be her brother in order to set her up on a date with a guy she has a crush on. Yes! She has a crush outside of the main character. I loved that it didn’t center around their love for each other only. Instead it shows how they really are best friends and then later in the book, more happens
3. Its paced properly. Not too much too soon. Then when it happens, it doesn’t end right after that. It takes us through to an epilogue! Yaay!
4. They have really supportive friends with positive messages as opposed to the friend telling them to settle or move on.
5. The scenarios feel real to me. If they have a disagreement, they don’t just run back into each other’s arms like any other romance novel – it’s a real time off involved.
6. The narrators were AMAZING! Which was perfect with the author’s writing style. I felt like I was watching a movie instead of listening to audible
I really could go on about their bickering, the adopt-a-pet date, and much more – but I want you to actually read this review and get the book! I’ve already recommended it to a few people and plan to read it again one day. I can’t wait to hear about Mac’s sister. I feel like that is coming next.

my absolute favorite
so let's say I feel like amy daws was channelling me. I am not a tall super model of a woman. I am a short 5'3 and a size 14 with a tummy that isn't flat. I really appreciate the fact that she describes a real women with lots to love. so I just want to say thank you Amy

Best Narrators EVER!!!!
WOW... WOW... WOW... Will Watt and Charlotte Cole were just simply amazing. Best dual narration I have ever heard. I have always wanted Freya to have her own book and Amy Daws blew my mind. I have to say I laughed so hard and I have to admit I cried buckets too. Mac was just simply delicious and I loved him, but I wanted to smack some sense into him as well. This book shows two friends who can't see what is right in front of them. Plus more Harris Clan too, who can say no to hot footballers!!!
Highly recommend this book and I loved this narration so much!!!

Fantastic listen
I absolutely loved both the story and the narration. I could listen to those Scottish accents all day every day.
Amy Daws is a brilliant writer, and there's not even one that I haven't enjoyed. This one has become one of my favorites for sure.

cringeworthy
I tried so hard but couldn't get it done. I think I was expecting more chemistry between them.

Lead female unlikable -
DNF - The main female character was so unlikeable I couldn't get past chapter 6. She was just downright mean to her "friend" constantly. Why he would want to even be in her company is unfathomable.

Another Great Book from Amy Daws!
Friends to more is my favorite trope and with Blindsided, Amy Daws has created an interesting story with engaging characters that come alive through the duet narration. I am picky about audiobooks and narrators, but I always love Amy's books on audio.
From the beginning it is easy to see the strong bond between Mac and Freya and that remaining platonic best friends is not in their future. After having met them in a previous book I really liked getting to know them better. They were fun and funny, and definitely not one dimensional. I appreciated that they had careers and interests outside of just being with each other.
The evolution of their relationship was sweet and hit all the right notes. The author infused the story with enough humor and heart to make it an enjoyable and entertaining read!
Mac and Freya's story is a spin-off from the Harris Brothers series, but can be read as a standalone.
