Absolutely loved this book, in fact the whole series.

I have thoroughly enjoyed listening to this series of books. I love the way the characters are introduced in each book and back stories are woven in so expertly. I feel I know the characters! I really hope more books are added. The narrator is fantastic, great accent and credible differences between the characters. A brilliant listen or read, highly recommend. Intelligently written and interesting with a great story. I will miss Ella, Anna, Toni & Jess and all their families!

Another wonderful book by Jo Bartlett

As with the other three books in the Cornish Midwives series, I absolutely loved this book.

I enjoyed getting to know Jess a little more, she has had a difficult childhood and marriage but has come through the other side. I really wish she wasn’t so hard on herself, she’s a very likeable character. I’m so glad that she and Dexter found each other.

It was also great to keep up with the lives of the other midwives and get to know Izzy a bit better. I really hope that Jo writes another in this series focusing on Izzy’s story. It would also be lovely to see how Ella’s wedding goes and the birth of Toni and Bobbi’s baby.

A feel good page turner.

Love the whole series!

Just another perfect part to this wonderful series. It’s definitely best to read them in order so you get to know all the characters - which are varied and interesting. I’m loving all of them and I can’t get through them fast enough! They make me laugh out loud and sometimes shed a few tears because I get so wrapped up in the characters and their stories. I love the voicing of the characters; you know it’s an expert when you know everyone’s voice without being told. It’s beautifully written, perfectly read and I can’t get through a day without some!

*Family Dynamics*

This instalment focuses on midwife Jess, she has always wanted children and tests revealed she is unlikely to realise that dream. Her husband decided to run off with other women therefore fracturing her heart. Sadly her mother died when Jess was young and her father could not cope so she was in the foster care system and never felt loved.

She decides with encouragement to explore short term fostering with her job pulling out all the stops to enable her to fulfil her dream.

One day she finds a surprise arrival on her doorstep a newborn baby. The child looks familiar and when she finds out the baby’s parentage she is gobsmacked. The trouble is Jess starts to bond with the child.

We see her journey into fostering and the pain she feels letting go of the child and then there is a surprise opportunity for love that she fights all the way due to her fear of getting hurt. We also see how she re-emerges from a shy blend in the background person to someone who even surprises herself as she almost misses what is right in front of her…

This was a good listen

This was the 4th book in the series and it was so much better than the 3rd book.
I love hearing about the family of Cornish midwives, they are there for each other and that comes through so strongly.

It's great to hear about their personal lives and what brought then to Port Agnes. Jo Bartlett is a great writer and Emma Powell is a brilliant narrator which can be hard to find.

I am now going to listen to the 5th book in the Cornish Midwife series!
