Summary
Prophesized heroes are reborn. The burden they bear is as terrible as it is necessary.
The dead city of Mahadev. In 3,000 years, none who have entered those ageless walls have returned to bear word of what evil lurks within. And yet it is there that Cinder and Anya must journey. A hard road with mysteries and dangers abounding.
And the greatest of those perils is imprisoned within the ruined temple at the very center of the necropolis’ dark heart. There, Cinder and Anya are given insight into the terrifying truth the world faces. It is an evil so vast that even the dark god Shet must bow before its will. It is the bringer of apocalypse, the ender of civilizations. If ever freed, the world will be helpless before its horrific power.
Forging an alliance all would have rather avoided, Cinder and Anya have no choice but to work with Shet to take on this greater enemy. Worse, it is a pact that will see them give away that which they hold most precious.

echo's of the finale of chuck and just as annoying
2 and a half books leading to the main protagonists becoming themselves and feeling a little contentment that this overly draged element of the narrative was concluding and he uses a clunky plot device to stretch a plot point which was the annoying part of the whole story out further,it's like having to start a game from the begging because you have no save point so have lost all progress,I tend to stop playing those games cos they are by nature repetitive and tedious, skipped the final third of the book because the dialogue was almost back to the middle of testament of steel with internal musings on each other, will try the next book but if this is now just a story with no progression that will be the last

Again ?
Plot forced them to lose there memories again and it made the last 9hours of the book torture as it was just the first book with a bit more drama

Author completely drops the ball
too many new uninteresting viewpoints, jumps in time, and forced plotline twists that seemed nonsensical.
remembering and forgetting etc. Ive lost my interest in this completely.

was pretty damn good until one really strange part
spoilers
What was the author thinking with the character regression, by making them forget their memories AGAIN? It's such an iritating distraction for the reader, and even the characters, especially since we spent so much time getting over it all ready, I actually skipped to the last chapter right after thry plan to make them forget again, and they STILL hadn't resolved it by then, the characters were acting like different people with entirely different points of view... just seems like a cheep, and annoying way to add drama and pad out a story, and it wasn't entertaining. I dont even know if I'll bother finishing this book now. sad. up until that baffling choice I would have giving it a 5/5 now it's maybe a 3...

Saddened by this
I don't usually write reviews, but this book made me feel the need. I loved the warriors path series and the first two books in this one. The first half of this book was fairly good, but then the filler and terrible plot ruined the entire series. Boring chapters of other pointless characters . The only positive is Nick podehls performance.

90% through the book and I'm quitting the series
[SPOLIERS BELOW]
90% into the book, the characters elect to have their memories altered so they forget one another for a reason that is confusing and contrived. The memory alteration was done by a demon, who they knew was going to betray them, nonetheless they did it anyways. And the demon, while betraying them, not only wiped their memories put implanted false memories, changed past interpretation of events, and made the main characters hate one another. In short, the protagonists' personalities were completely changed 50 hours into the series. No exaggeration.
Save yourself the heartache and end after book 2 (which I loved). I wish I had.

What Happened?!?
This is the third and final book in The Instrument of Omen series. The first two books were great and I’ve listened to them twice each. The third book however, has be confused.
The first 1/4 of the book this book is a continuation of the story line. The next 1/4 of the book begins a bunch of side stories when it should be bringing all story lines together. By mid-point, the book introduces new characters-lots of new characters, some with their own story line. The lead up to a big battle is resolved in a couple of paragraphs and the main characters are Incognito
Did the author change? Did the audiobook get compiled incorrectly or the wrong version offered? This book has taken such a turn for the worse that I can’t even force myself to finish listening to it.

aweful...sadly terrible.
The first two books were quite good and I was excited to have three to listen to before a wait period. I got through the first two quickly as I really enjoyed them.
The third book quickly leads into a plot twist that should have taken place in the final book or for a short time. instead it attempts to maintain the characters as the world knows them while forgetting themselves and at the same time the world isn't supposed to recognize them to accomplish several tasks for an entirely new foe that must be taken care of before the main villain. the story becomes convoluted and makes you dislike the main characters.
The story tells you that all the memories they have had are of their past. then suddenly for no reason some of those visions are now of their future. semi spoiler here, the two main characters suffer the same inner turmoil equally. even though the story tells you one is corrupted by a demon. so they shouldn't be more or less identical with the memory problem thing. it would make more sense that the one not afflicted with the demon would catch onto the fact that the other is suffering more then the other. it would bring the story together better that way.
there is a lot of problems with this book and it makes you angry, not only because that's what the author wants you to feel but it mostly makes you mad because of how dumb the unnecessary memory thing comes about after you really become fond of the main characters finding each other and starting to grow the relationship. then suddenly their past lives and all that they will eventually become suddenly happens over a short time and then is immediately reversed right after so they can deal with this new enemy plot twist.
I made it to 1.5 hours remaining trying over and over to see "and prey" that the book would recover the main characters without hating the main characters unnecessary plot twist shenanigans but no. at this rate with only 1.5 hours to go. it will take a while other book of this BS to be over before we get our heros back and the original story continue.
I don't normally write reviews unless the book is exceptionally good. this is the first negative review I have left in over 150 books I've listened to. the reason is because I legitimately hated what the author did to the story. it is so aggravating that I can't finish a story I was enjoying so much. maybe this is the response the author wanted and perhaps will make it up to us later. but as of now I don't think I will continue the series.
you have been warned!

I'm so sad the story took this turn
I struggled to continue because I loved the first two books, but I just can't stand the way this book turned out.
Spoiler alert!!
It took such a long time for Cinder and Anya to find themselves and it was a well worth wait, just for the to forcefully have to hate each other again?! No, Don't do this to me. I know it's going to end up fine eventually but I can't stand reading up until then. My anxiety level is just too high.. Sorry, had to put it down.

Ashura changed the recipe, and I can't swallow it
I have enjoyed all of the Castes and Outcastes series as well as the first two Instruments of Omens books. I eagerly anticipated this third book. With 9 hours left, I gave up on the book and returned it. The main plot drug to a screeching halt while lots of tertiary story arcs and characters were introduced. And there were so many holes in the story. My theory is that Ashura actually wrote a much longer book, but the editor said, "it can't be that long," so they just cut sections out and let the reader imagine what the other scenes were with little hints here and there. When the plot threads should be coming together... they multiplied and shot out in multiple directions that I could not/would not follow. I tried multiple times to finish it, but just got more and more frustrated each time, and finally gave up. No mas, Mr. Ashura.

not worth it
I was super pumped about this book which might be why I was disappointed they just their memories back and they cut them out again. I stopped the book there. I know this happens a lot in books but it seems forced in this one and I was just over it.

Great writing bad story line
the writing is excellent but the story takes a turn that it doesn’t need to take half way through the book. The I felt that the other characters being brought up we’re unnecessary and the way the story went was disappointing.
