Minalan gave up a promising career as a professional warmage to live the quiet life of a village spellmonger in the remote mountain valley of Boval. It was a peaceful, beautiful little fief, far from the dangerous feudal petty squabbles of the Five Duchies, on the world of Callidore. There were cows. Lots of cows. And cheese. For six months things went well: He found a quaint little shop, he befriended the local lord, the village folk loved him, he found a sharp young apprentice to help out, and, best yet, he met a comely young widow with the prettiest eyes.

Summary
The legend of Tal Harrenfel has reached its final verse.

Tal, Garin, and their companions begin their approach to Ikvaldar, the mountain atop which the immortal sorcerer Yuldor waits. Before they can challenge Yuldor for the Worldheart, however, they must first overcome Ikvaldar's formidable defenses.
Their quest will carry them into the heart of enemy territory. There, they will encounter their deadliest foe yet, one who may eclipse even Tal's towering potential.
The last battle is near. The legend is at its end. For Tal and Garin to remake the world, it will require sacrifice beyond their imagining...

A World I Will Always Remember
A superb balance of high fantasy adventure and the intimate exploration of its characters and their connections to each other. Genuinely sad to reach the end of this series, but left with that warm sense of satisfaction from a good ending, and nostalgia for the journey I've been on. I look forward to my children being old enough to read this story to, and getting to re-live the Legend Of Tal once more.

We’ll written and we’ll read
I was hesitant to start this series because of some of the reviews. If you are in that place as well, I would encourage you to give it a chance. The characters are well flushed out and the plot intricacies are substantial, but not overwhelming. The series is resolved in its entirety by the fourth book, but leaves open the possibility of a continuation of the story. All in all, I found each book engrossing, entertaining, and just plain fun.
