About this listen

Be swept away by the new breath-taking romantic novel from Sunday Times best-selling author and Strictly Come Dancing star Anton Du Beke.

This Christmas, you are cordially invited to the wedding of the year!

London, 1938.

When fiercely independent chambermaid Nancy Nettleton first moved to London and the Buckingham hotel, the last thing on her mind was finding love, let alone falling for the debonair demonstration dancer Raymond de Guise.

As the festive season approaches, life at the exclusive hotel is busier than ever, with guests arriving from around the world, seeking comfort, relaxation and refuge as tensions build across Europe and it looks like another war is imminent.

Behind the scenes, the staff work tirelessly, ensuring the smooth operation of the hotel, guarding the secrets of their guests - but they have many of their own that they fear will be revealed.

As the band strikes up in the Grand Ballroom to celebrate Nancy and Raymond's wedding, one thing is certain - this will be a Christmas to remember.

loved it

I originally read this book before I had read the previous ones, and to be honest it didn't engage me at the time as I struggled to get into the characters. However, because I like Anton, and could picture him twirling round the dance floor, I decided to give it another go. This time, however, I started with the first and second books in the series and by the time I got back to this one I was completely hooked. Such REAL characters.... as my father used to say, warts and all. The pages come to life and it is easy to laugh or cry with the different people. Keep writing Anton, and I will keep reading. The narrator also deserves a good 'thumbs up. Excellently read and very good voices.

Really lovely characters - plenty of action

I was surprised that I really enjoyed this, not too Christmassy to be cheesy. I liked all the characters and there was plenty of action and gossip to keep you coming back. I will definitely be giving the rest of his series a go.

Wonderful

I am addicted to this series of lovely well written, intriguing stories with loveable characters. Particularly enjoyed the reader of the second two books as he is a master of accents! Its like listening to a full cast! Can’t wait to listen to the next book now. I listen in my car to and from work and don’t mind a traffic jam anymore because I get to enjoy the book for longer. Congratulations to Anton for a terrific series. I hope it gets made in a Downton Abbey style tv series.

Very enjoyable!

I really enjoyed this third book by Anton. I thought it was the best one yet. I loved listening all about the characters within the Buckingham Hotel. This book was in my opinion the best of the three and I look forward to hopefully reading a fourth. The narration was excellent too!

Should be made into a film/series

Made into a series these books could be bigger than downtown Abbey with the added bonus of some spectacular dancing. Yay!

Narrator annoyed me

I loved the book but it really annoyed me every time I heard Thomas Judd say "Vivienne". Why on earth he changed the pronunciation from the previous books, I dont know, but it really annoyed me.
