About this listen

BDSM Erotic Romance

After Kari breaks up with her date during Beginner's Night at Club Shadowlands, she's given the option to continue with an experienced dominant. Despite her steamy fantasies about BDSM, the inexperienced schoolteacher plans to simply observe. Yet under the unyielding hands of Master Dan, she not only participates, but gives him everything he asks for. There is nothing she can hide from him. Not her passion - or her love.

Still mourning the death of his wife, Master Dan avoids getting involved with women and he never takes a sub twice. But this modest little beginner is such a sweetie, one night is far from enough. As he plumbs her responses, taking her ever deeper into the world of BDSM, the gentle submissive begins to show him how barren his life has become and what a dark citadel he's made of his heart.

During their three nights together, the teacher will learn to submit - can she teach the master to love?

An enjoyable read but quite a light story.

I read this after the first in the Shadowlands series but I think it would stand alone. It does have continuing characters on the periphery but there are no major spoilers.
I found the sex scenes were well written and erotic, and the story flowed well. I liked Kari and that she is not a skinny woman but I did find one or two of the scenes a bit on the edge of consensual, as she was quite doubtful at times. and safe word or no her newness to the scene wasn't taken into account and there wasn't for me enough checking in, although she always seemed to enjoy it in the end.
Dan was very masterful but I did find his guilty feelings and self-recriminations a bit overblown. Having said that it wasn't off-putting and everyone grieves in their own time. This book is about pushing boundaries finding and acknowledging their own inner needs and wants. I enjoyed it a lot.
For my latest re-read I listened to the Audiobook which I thought was very good, and brought the book to life.

Brilliant!

Another excellent story in the shadowlands series - I cant wait to read/listen to all of the others!!
Loved how sweet Carrie is and how wonderful a Dom Dan is even though he has a huge element in his past to over come. Love the other doms that make appearances in the book including the wonderful Master Z
Highly recommended!
