Summary

This is the story of Michael Talbot, his family, and his friends: a band of ordinary people trying to get by in extraordinary times. When disaster strikes, Mike, a self-proclaimed survivalist, does his best to ensure the safety and security of those he cares for. Book One of the Zombie Fallout Trilogy follows our lead character at his self-deprecating, sarcastic best. What he encounters along the way leads him down a long dark road, always skirting the edge of insanity.

Can he keep his family safe? Can he discover the secret behind Tommy's powers? Can he save anyone from the zombie queen? Encircled in a seemingly safe haven called Little Turtle, Mike and his family, together with the remnants of a tattered community, must fight against a relentless, ruthless, unstoppable force. This last bastion of civilization has made its final stand. God help them all.

This is a new and updated edition of the previously published title, which originally released on Audible in 2012. This new production features the author's most updated language and revisions, aligning with the most recent edition of the eBook.

A zompoc for teenage boys.

This has been a bit of a chore to listen to. The way women are portrayed in this is painful to the point that it is impossible to enjoy.

The main character only taught his sons any survival skills, but is also clearly unimpressed by the lack of skills and survival instincts shown by his wife and daughter (and literally every other female in the book).

Some of the most memorable depictions of women in this book include his clueless wife who wants to drive through zombie infested streets on a rescue mission with her window down because "it's stuffy" in the car. The two female zombies who the main character informs us would still be repulsive if they weren't zombies due to their size. The hopeless lesbian neighbour who locks herself in the car to sulk while she is needed by her group and whose sexuality deems her a waste of a woman in the eyes of the main character. And finally the stunning zombie with the "shapely legs and pornstar breasts" that the wife and daughter encounter during a cigarette run the two of them embark on alone despite neither of them knowing how to operate or even check if their gun is loaded.

The way women are only depicted as woefully inept or described solely based on how attractive/repulsive they are makes this book impossible to enjoy, it really brings you out of the story every time they say or do something outrageously stupid which is unfortunately all too often.

I am going to stick to the Safe Haven series which has a much more balanced portrayal of the sexes.

Worth a listen but be prepared

The farts, smells, details of shits, really are unnecessary in what otherwise is a, in parts, funny, scary and interesting take on a Zombie apocalypse.
I find it annoying that a “survivor” only ensured his boys were taught how to shoot and take care of their guns, while the women were short tempered and nasty but useless at defending themselves. All that said I’ve bought the following books to see what happens next.

Fantastic Series!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I’m now on book 5, and can’t stop listening to this story. Great story telling, engaging, fast paced and full of dark humour. By far the best Apocalyptic Fiction I’ve found so far!

awesome read!

I found it so hard to put down! love that the talbots aren't these perfect characters, they have flaws that make them so much more likable! there's more to this read than just zombies, and I can't wait to find out what it is! downloading the next book as I type!

Actually not bad

Even if you're not a zombie fan. Good characterisation, not overly ridiculous, and good narration. Enjoyable and easy to listen to.
