Story
They call the ancient hills of Jerusalem the butcher's theater. Here, upon this bloodstained stage, a faceless killer performs his violent specialty: The first to die brutally is a fifteen-year-old girl. She is drained of blood, then carefully bathed and shrouded in white. Precisely one week later, a second victim is found.
Summary
After his brutally violent cop father kills his mother in a heinous fashion on Christmas day, a young boy is raised on the streets of Brooklyn to become the deadliest hitman for the Mob. But even while he carves out a life and reputation for himself dispatching enemies of the syndicate, the hitter is planning his revenge against those who helped to make him what he is. From the cruel mob family to his own murderous old man, who sends threats and taunts from the safety of his jail cell. As the time approaches when his father will be free again, a Christmas nightmare of bloody retribution begins to unfold.
Employing the unique, darkly humorous, and powerful noir voice that is his trademark, Piccirilli once again demonstrates why he's become a must-hear voice for admirers of both crime and horror fiction.

Top banana noir
Short, but gripping and violent and tense and really, really good.
A boy becomes a man and all the way through his adoloscence and into adulthood he's preparing for the day his father is released from prison for killing his mother. True to say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, though our hero does retain the capacity to love.
One of the best novellas I've read from Piccirilli.

Satisfying Story
If you haven't yet discovered Tom Piccirilli, you're in for a treat. The characters in this short story were especially likable, and the story line held my interest. I'm not going to describe the story, all you have to do is read the blurb, and see if this is for you, but I would recommend this story. I would also add that Fred Kennedy does a real fine job with all the voices. I received this audiobook in a promotion and this is my voluntary review.

Gritty mafia story
The Narrator did a great job with the characters. This is a gritty mafia story, really good, action and drama. I'd stick with R rating, due to language and violence, but it wasn't over the top in details, left lots to imagination. I appreciated that.

An excellent tale of violence, revenge and family.
“We lived in a house of quiet, private pain.”
Loved this. There is zero f’n around and it get’s right down to business.
Nasty business.
Reminded me of Lee Thompson’s “When We Join Jesus In Hell” in terms of fast paced brutality. (Damn, I miss Lee’s work)
Dark and quick.
An excellent tale of violence, revenge and family.
Not necessarily in that order.
