Summary
Colleen McElroy grew up wealthy and pampered, the daughter of a prominent society family in Lexington, Kentucky. But her privileged upbringing could not prepare or protect her from her cruel and abusive first husband. Although her calamitous marriage left her with physical and emotional scars that have yet to heal, they haven't prevented her from doing her best to rebuild her life.
Charismatic Patrick McElroy has scars of his own from his traumatic childhood in the foster care system, but with his business partner, John, he has built a celebrated, state-of-the-art home for at-risk youths. When one goes missing, Colleen is plunged into a nightmare of uncertainty about the girl's disappearance. Is she paranoid, seeing disasters where there is just bad luck, or does an unspeakable evil lurk behind the new life she's made for herself? No longer sure of whom she can trust, Colleen will have to rely on herself to discover the truth.

Her novel, At Risk, was worth the $1.99 I paid!
This is my 4th SG Redling novel. The others are Redemption Key, Baggage, and The Widow File. At Risk is an excellent little action thriller if you can avoid noting her incorrect geographic detail; she apparently does no geographic or local weather research for her novels. Still, it is an interesting story. Narration is excellent.

Wow!
Well knock me down.....this book turned out to be so utterly crazy near the end, I couldn’t help but pull at my hair. My thought was ‘Was EVERYONE crazy?’.
Boy, I love this author. This book was tops. And the narrator very good. Going to find another S.G. Redling book. This one was my 4th.
Keep ‘em coming, S.G. Redling.

Good story, didn't like narrators voice at first
It took about 30 mins of listening to like the narrators voice. Something about it I just didn't like at first but the more you listen it gets better. As for the story I liked it. Thought it was a little slow in the beginning and forgot what the book was even about but I understand that the author was trying to build the character while hinting of her back story. Once I got into the real story line then it had my attention and I actually sat in my living listening to it to see what happens. I usually just listen on the way to work and back.

Great premise...
...that wasn't fully realized. It's a good read/listen, but it could've be significantly better if it had been explained and delved into more thoroughly

Meh..
Was a decent read but the ending was lacking. After being initially intrigued, the ending left me wondering.

Ends rather abruptly
Lots of lead up. lots good character development. then everything falls apart very abruptly at the end. Not a satisfying end at all. I really enjoyed the build up and getting to know the characters, but felt robbed in the end.
