Summary
Mitchell Tucker has come back to the small Texas town of Gila Rock looking for something Julianne Boyce has no intention of giving him: forgiveness. It's been eight years since Mitch went to jail for starting a fire that claimed her husband's life...and longer still since Juli and Mitch fell into a forbidden first love that their feuding families brought to an end. She's lost too much because of his thoughtlessness to let herself fall under that familiar spell again.
But no matter how much she ignores him, Mitch isn't leaving. Soon he's helping out at her farm and her new store, trying to make amends, melting the cold shell Juli's built around her heart. There's a world of hurt and mistrust between them - but there's also one last chance to uncover the truths that might bring them back together once more...

Snake Bite Medicine, Tennessee Whisky
I purchased on 50% sale to try this author as I love all of Narrator Ms Early’s work. I do use 1.25x speed to match the author’s intent.
This is a James Dean style story, do watch the classic film Giant to appreciate the vistas painted during this book.
The is a good old fashioned who dunit story, with touches of kindness via Knuglehead aka Jack, and wild flower bouquets twined and bundled with thin blades of prairie grass.
This is not an ugly prison story, but one of learned knowledge that comes from growing up and choosing the smarter path.
If you are a fan of this author, do not miss author Rachel Gibson stories read by Ms Early, I own all. She also reads author Karin Slaughter books, much more graphic and intense, and in some books, must have a strong stomach or you will not be able to sleep at night. My fave Criminal and Fallen, and all the Will Trent short stories as they do not have terror in them.
