Summary

The first time we met, it was an accident.

The second was the night my mother told me she was marrying his father. I didn’t know his name then, but I do now: Hayes Ambrose. Captain of the swim team. Popular, gorgeous, the guy every girl wants, with a smile that’s hiding a million secrets.

In the beginning I was certain we would become fast friends, until the day I heard a conversation that I was never supposed to hear. Overnight he became my worst nightmare, my bully. He’ll do anything to keep me quiet, and I’ll do anything to discover the truth. Until the truth is revealed and I realize it’s far more terrifying than I ever expected.

Interesting

I feel like there were a lot of hypocrisies, that Hayes was allowed to get away with but other characters were shunned. When okay fair, he was really going through it but also why does that mean its all okay for him to basically do all the same things. Found it super baffling. I also guessed the twist as soon as they had their first interaction that MC saw. Love the narrator. It was okay, worth a listen for sure.

Good story

I enjoyed the story and found it interesting but not captivating, I didn’t expect the ending that was a real twist to the story, but I’m glad it all worked out well in the end. Great narration

Enjoyable but nothing new

Fantastic narrative but the storyline was quite boring. The twist at the end was good though. Main characters had no chemistry.

okeish

Did not finished the book... I found him abusive and her annoying. There was no depth to their 'love'.
I usually inhale books, but this one I kept avoiding.

Normalizing rape and romanticizing it was a no for me

I love Avery Reid's voice. This book was disturbing to say the least. I get trying to make it a little controversial, but Hays raping Morgan and then her falling in love with him was not cool. he should have at least apologized and made it up to her. I get that he is a victim himself, but that's the bit about the book I did not like. And her continuously trying to help and protect him made me sick 🤢

The most unaware, annoying and clueless heroine

I tried to get through it but Morgan was the worst character ever. She wouldn’t listen and thought she needed to meddle all the time and was overall pathetic
