Great series beginning - dark sexy and intriguing

I loved this beginning of Maxim and Willow’s fated mates, wolf pack shifter romance with a side of mystery. This book is part of a quartet and ends on a cliffhanger. As long as you are aware of that you’ll enjoy the story. The story starts mid-action with Willow, a disgraced wolf shifter, running for her life. She is trying to escape the Parallel World to the Human World through a magic portal. Maxim is the Alpha of the pack that finds her. There is instant heat and connection when Maxim and Willow meet but it’s not clear where that will lead - salvation or destruction. For now Willow just needs not to be sent back to her old pack and the sadistic wolf who was selected for her mate. This book has a little bit of everything - sweet moments, fan your face steam, exciting action, danger, strong friendships, painful pasts, mystery, evil actors, plot twists, imperfect characters, mystical prophecies, and even a few chuckles. The book is well written, with witty dialogue, three dimensional characters, and an engaging storyline. I will be diving into the next book to see what happens next.

Lili Valente and Jason Clarke did a phenomenal job narrating the story and characters into life with enough change of inflection, tone and cadence to voice multiple characters quite convincingly. Jason Clarke is a great growly Maxim. And is there anything better than listening to Lili Valente narrating her own book?

Great PNR series

I loved this combination of a mafia type/shifter romance.
Maxim Thorn is the epitome of an alpha male, not only is he the alpha of the North Star pack but he is also a mafia king. He's been working hard to keep his pack from civil war with the Blood River pack so when the mate of the rival alpha's son shows up on his doorstep looking like a drown rat, Maxim knows things are about to take a turn for the worst.
Willow knows her life is forfeited the moment she knocks her new mate unconscious on their mating night. So she does the only thing she can think of, jumps through a portal and hopes the North Star pack will take mercy on her. What she is not expecting is the chemistry that sparks between her and Maxim.
This book is an exciting start to a new series which ends with a cliffhanger, but I can't wait to see what happens next.

Oh I love this series and these narrators!!

This book is FANTASTIC!! On the run, not sure what will happen next even once she's somewhere "safe."

Willow is trying to find herself and keep herself safe. Maxim is a mystery....a good mystery? A bad one? Both?

The chemistry between these "enemies" is delicious!

There are so many things going on in this book - it's a true page turner! I cannot WAIT for the next one.

The world-building is fantastic. The characters are multi-faceted and interesting. The writing is top-notch. Shifters in the city. Prophecies coming true? Love? Hate? This book has everything!!

Can we TALK about the narration?! OH MY GOSH. I always love these narrators, but Jason Clarke as Maxim?? WHEW. I will be listening again and again!!!

Loved this PNR Romance!

Wolf King by Bella Jacobs was a PNR wolf shifter romance that captivated my attention from start to finish. This is book one in an interconnected four-book series, and I am preparing my heart for each book because if they are anything like book one, I know I will need answers! Willow and Maxim seem like complete opposites at the start but soon realize that have this undeniable attraction to each other.

Lili Valente and Jason Clarke narrate this audiobook. Lili's performance of Willow's sassy, opinionated, and passionate persona was spot-on, and had me cheering for her to find her place in a new pack! Jason brought his signature growly tone performing Maxim's dominant, alpha, and overprotective persona brilliantly. Both narrators showcased the conflicted emotions and magnetic pull Maxim and Willow have toward each other.

I loved book one, and need to continue Willow and Maxim's story in Wolf Pawn next!

Trigger Warning/Spoiler

I usually love Lili Valente’s books, but this series is a ‘hell no’ for me. In the second book, the hero drugs and rapes the heroine in order to get her pregnant ‘for the good of the pack.’ This was told from the man’s perspective, so you got to hear all of his BS excuses. Then somehow at the end of the scene he is angry with her over a lie she told him to gain sanctuary when they first met. He finishes with her, gets dressed and leaves her there after betraying her trust, failing to see that she never had any power, and he completely abused all the power that he has. Save yourself the time and don’t start a series of four books for this DB hero.

The narrators and the story is so good… the drama is intense am so curious on what will come next.

Short Book with Big Story

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this, since I’m not normally a fan of shifter books. And while there was plenty of action and fantasy elements, it also had all the spiciness that I’ve come to expect from this author. The book itself was short, but the story was so big. Whenever I expected I was close to the end, there was more. Yet somehow, it wasn’t too fast-paced. The narrators were great too. They really brought the characters and the story to life. I can’t wait to continue the story with the next book.

Mystery, suspense, & steam OH MY!~ I was completely hooked in the mystery, suspense, and thrilling wolf shifter romance with unexpected twists and turns! Willow is a brilliant scientific mind with the unfortunate circumstance of being from a family on the wrong side of their pack, now forced to escape with very few options. Maxim is a powerful Alpha pack leader and the enemy of her enemy. There is so much going on and it keeps getting more and more complex. Can't wait to find out what's next! This is book 1 and you will need all 4 to get the full story. Buckle up!

I chose this series because I love Bella Jacobs and she picks the best narrators! Jason Clarke is a 1 click every time, so when you pair him with Lili Valente it's a guaranteed excellent performance. They both did an incredible job not only bringing the characters to life with all of the fear, anger, loathing, excitement, steam, and incredibly difficult/thrilling circumstances of their bond.

Entertaining

Storyline is interesting and entertaining. Narrators, especially Jason did a great job with narration. My only criticism is that so should have been a boxed set since books are novella length.

I couldn't put this one down!

It had me on the edge of my seat for the entire book! Maxim is a dark, powerful and sexy Alpha. Willow doesn't quite know the potential of her possible gifts yet, but she'll learn soon enough. She is strong, beautiful and smart as hell. I love that about her character. I want to know more about them all and what is happening between the packs. The end left me breathless! I need more!!
Lili Valente and Jason Clarke absolutely killed it in this one. I can't wait to hear the rest!
