Summary

Social talent star Louise Pentland brings us her enchanting and inspiring audiobook.

You'll never forget the day you met #RobinWilde!

'Four years, 2 months and 15 days of single-mum-dom. Didn't someone say this was supposed to get easier?'

It's time for Robin Wilde to change. Her. Life.

Robin Wilde has a beautiful six-year-old daughter, a job she's really rather good at, a wonderful best friend and an auntie who is bonkers, yes, but loves her to the moon and back. But Robin has a secret. Behind the mask she carefully applies every day, she can't shift the grey, lonely feelings of The Emptiness.

She struggles to fit in with the school mum crew, online dating is totally despair-inducing and she worries all the time about raising her daughter with self-confidence, courage and joy. What Robin wants, more than anything, is someone (over the age of six) to share her life with. But Robin Wilde isn't one to wallow. If change won't come to her, she'll just have to go out there and find it.

Exciting new opportunities are about to come Robin's way.... Perhaps a man, perhaps the promise of an adventure.... What will Robin do with the possibilities she creates? And when her perfect moment comes, will Robin be brave enough to take the leap?

Enchanting and uplifting. Very funny. This audiobook will make you feel fantastic just for being you.

Only for single mums

What did you like best about Wilde Like Me? What did you like least?

If you're a single mum who feels like your life is rubbish, you'll like this. I'm neither and found it deeply irritating. It alternates between gloopy sentimentality about how adorable and lovely being a mother is and how lonely and unfulfilled she feels. This is based on Part One only as I couldn't bear ploughing through to the end.

What was most disappointing about Louise Pentland’s story?

It was supposed to be a witty account of single parent life. I found it totally lacking in humour - more whiny than anything.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Fiona Hardingham?

Possibly.

Did Wilde Like Me inspire you to do anything?

Return the audiobook and buy something less annoying.

Any additional comments?

I can only hope it became more positive as it wore on. I wouldn't doubt she gets a man in the end so if that's what you're after, go for it.

I don't read women's fiction...

I don't read women's fiction... but this book might ensure I shelf my normal crime/thrillers and start reading more books similar to Wilde.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't drawn to the novel by the author, whom I've followed for years.

I was a little sceptical of whether this book would live up to its hype...I gave this book a chance, and the story is far better than anything I'd imagined it be. It's far more than a 'YouTube book'.

For anyone who knows anything about Louise's life, the story appears to echo some of the experiences she's shared online.

Robin Wilde is a lovable character which I'm sure all Mums (including myself!) find relatable. The mum guilt, the thought processes of a working mum and the love Robin has for her daughter.
This is a beautiful story, which is funny, heartwarming and thought provoking.
A thoroughly fun read/listen and adult without being smutty.
Can't recommend this book enough, I can't wait to read another instalment!

Didn't empathise with the main character

The story was unoriginal and I could guess many of the things that happened. The main character was a bit too self pitying and self involved for my liking and was hard to empathise with as I could see her ignoring the clues others left of their own problems. For three quarters of the book, Robin thought everyone else had a perfect life but her. Jealous of her family, her friends, her coworker etc

You'll never forget the day you met Robin Wilde!

Amazing debut novel by Louise, the story is extremely relatable which is what makes it so captivating for the audience. It's a very modern story and Robin is perceived as an extremely modern woman, she is a character you instantly adore and would love to have as your best friend. Very well written story capturing life's thrills and struggles, Louise uses interesting and interacting lexical terms making the reader feel a part of the story. I'd suggest it would appeal to a primarily female audience, from around age 17-40. Thoroughly enjoyable read/listen.

Absolutely brilliant

I'm a director and can never find the time to take time out and read a book. This is an amazing way of taking the time to read a book you've been dying to and not effect your day!
The book was fantastic and was very well read!

Typical "helpless female" rubbish and not funny,

Didn't finish it, couldn't slog through another chapter of this inane drivel. Do not bother

drippy, insubstantial rubbish.

not funny enough to be a comedy, not well crafted enough to move the soul. I struggled.
