Summary

Set in New York Times best-selling author Jeaniene Frost’s Night Huntress World, ancient deities are poised to wreak havoc, unless vampires Veritas and Ian can stop them…in this thrilling Night Rebel novel!

A gift from the gods...

Veritas and Ian have finally defeated their worst enemy, but the power it took to pierce through to the netherworld has unexpected consequences. Soon, Veritas is forced to rely on the last person she trusts - a golden deity named Phanes, who seeks far more than a temporary alliance with the beautiful vampire.

Can unleash hell....

But an escape from the netherworld soon pits Veritas and Ian against supernatural beings seeking to rule over mortals once again. Now, they must rally friends and foes alike - if the vampire council doesn’t execute Veritas first. Plus, a wedge between Veritas and Ian threatens to destroy their love. Can they stand together against the unearthly powers about to be unleashed? Or does their love - and humanity - not stand a chance?

Excellent loved Ian and Veritas

I’ve loved all Night Huntress books, but I believe this series is the best one yet.

Great trilogy

Excellent trilogy
I loved every part of it, from Ian and Veritas going from "enemies" to lovers to antagonists and their arcs. Not a single part of the story was boring. Narrator had great emotion in her storytelling. Would like that Ian was voiced by a British narrator, but i understand that the book is written in only Veritas's point of view.
The end was left a bit unfinished, well not unfinished just a bit plain, but i hope there will he be more books of Ian and Veritas. And maybe a new book featuring Azael and Marie??

Excellent finale, BUT

Loved the coming together of all the main characters of this series. The storyline was thrilling. The one big let lown was the voice of Veritas - it was soo tinney/harsh on the ears! it was only previous audios that made me continue. Narration is the key to good audios and this one just did not work because the main voice was Veritas.

Sooooo good

I’ve loved every single book Jeanine Frost have written, but the books about Ian and Veritas have been my absolute favorites. I don’t know how she does it, but every book is better than the last. Tavia Gilbert is brilliant as usual and adds so much to the experience. 5 stars all around.

A brilliant addition to The Night Huntress univers

I never knew that either Ian or Veritas could grow on me as much as they have throughout the Night Rebel trilogy.
Featuring my favourite characters from the Night Huntress world, this was a story full of grit and tension. The plot kept meon my toes in exactly the hight class of writing that I have come to expect from Jeaniene Frost.
Tavia Gilbert continues to wow me with her outstanding narration.

Why so rushed?

The book was... just okay. The story was fine but the ending... What is with that ending? There is absolutely zero closure. It doesn't mention what happens with the Vampire Ghoul alliance or the vampires and ghouls that allied with the Gods. It doesn't even have a fight between the amassed allies. Apparently all that was needed was Vlad, Bones and Mencheres. It also renders Marie unimportant to the ending. Just when you think there is going to be an important discussion within the groups leaders, It just ends. No epilogue. This is my least liked book out of ANY of the Night Huntress series or Spin-offs. This could have been a really good book.

feels rushed & doesn't satisfy for a great trilogy

I am a huge fan of frost night huntress world. was really looking forward to an exciting on the run story, that was set up in the pervious books. but no an end of the world plot comes out of no where and it shifts to a bull rush of cameos of pervious characters. I get the sense Frost was bored with the world and just wanted to push this out to tie up favorite characters.

the performance by Gilbert was excellent as always so no complaints there. just disappointed in the direction the story took.

Dreadful

I should have known. Wicked Bite was pretty bad, but honestly. Who would have thought this mess could have been worse? The story line was convoluted past any understanding and the narration: Where to begin? Ms. Gilbert seems to have chosen increased cadence and volume to convey anxiety and panic but just made it more annoying. I decreased the narration speed to 0.9 and it was still unbearable. I did enjoy the Night prince and Night Huntress and was truly disappointed in the Night Rebel series. Ian and Veritas deserved better. Hoping to return.

The narrator tho 😬

The narrator’s voice for veritas was truly painful to listen to, just the most annoying. A bad creative decision that almost took me out of the book completely.

Disappointing ... sorry.

I loved the entire Nighthuntress series and enjoyed some of the spin offs but I’d been waiting for Ian’s story and I’m sorry but it seemed like the author lost interest awhile ago. I forced myself through the second book hoping the final book would rally and i came so close to DNF this. I normally adore Tavia Gilbert as one of my favorite narrators but her voice for veritas was slightly annoying and with her constant repetitive internal dialogue and it was grating. This was a situation where they should’ve ended the series before the author lost interest or there wasn’t any story left.

Wonderful tale, but...

Let me preface this by saying, Jeanine Frost is my absolute favorite author. Tavia Gilbert is the best narrator ever. I check for new books all the time from them and listen to their collaborations more than once. This story is amazing as all the rest, but I could have done without the political references and the pandemic mentioned. I like books to escape, and these have always been the best, I don't want real world issues in my favorite stories.

can't stand the accents

I have read the rest of this series and the accents she chooses do not match what is described. in addition the accent she chose for the main character was grating.
I barely made it through the book and only because I simply couldn't fine time to sit and read it.

I'm usually a fan

I did not appreciate that Veritas was no longer the strong character that she had been. Instead I felt like she was having an anxiety attack or orgasm through the entire book. very disappointing
I love her other books, especially Vlad and Leila, Bones and Kat.

Great Book Until The End

The book was fantastic, it kept you on the edge of your seat, or your ears perked up if you're listening instead of reading, up until the very end. From the end of the battle it just drops you off a cliff right on your face with no true ending other than it ending the series. Hoping that the finding of Kaine, the Tri-Child, and the change of Vampire Laws will continue the series. Let alone the infatuation Azeral has with Marie.

What happened?

Normally a FAVORITE author/series and narrator. Both are way off on this one! The story is phoned in, disjointed. The narrator frequently mixes up and uses the wrong character voice.
I don’t believe that I’d like reading it any better. The story will still be poorly executed regardless.
I would rather have the series end than have this mess to read, if Jeaniene Frost is tired of writing the series.
