Pema Chodron
About this listen
How can we live our lives when everything seems to fall apart—when we are continually overcome by fear, anxiety, and pain? The answer, Pema Chödrön suggests, might be just the opposite of what you expect. Here, in her most beloved and acclaimed work, Pema shows that moving toward painful situations and becoming intimate with them can open up our hearts in ways we never before imagined. Drawing from traditional Buddhist wisdom, she offers life-changing tools for transforming suffering and negative patterns into habitual ease and boundless joy.

Wisdom for challenging times
After listing to this, I am going to delve into Pema Chodron’s other books. Some very useful messages and guidance. I will then revisit this book m, as I feel there is still way more to absorb from it.

Vague and meandering
The narrator is easy to listen to but the writing muddles the message which is already vague and meandering.

Not what I thought
(Listened for about 1 hour, 12 minutes. Read to chapter 6.)
Although the narration and the story is overall good, this book is not what I expected. It’s a lot more about using meditation, midfulness and Buddhistic teachings when you’re in a challenging place in your life. I feel like the title is a bit misleading. I guess I was expecting more though provoking perceptions, in a more psychological way.
What I got out of the book so far, is that instead of reading/listening, I should instead meditate.
