Summary
Charming, hilarious, and emotional...When Sparks Fly is Helena Hunting at her very best!
Avery Spark is living her best life. Between her friends, her sisters, and Spark House, the event hotel her family owns, she doesn’t have much time for anything else, especially relationships. She’d rather hang out with her best friend and roommate, Declan McCormick, than deal with the dating scene. But everything changes when she is in a car accident and needs someone to care for her as she heals.
Declan avoids relationships, giving him a playboy reputation that he lives up to when he puts a one-night stand ahead of a promise he made to Avery. While he may not have been the one driving the car, he feels responsible for Avery’s injuries and is determined to make it up to her by stepping into the role of caretaker.
Little did they know that the more time they spend in compromising positions, the attraction they’ve been refusing to acknowledge becomes impossible to ignore. When they finally give in to the spark between them, neither is prepared for the consequences. Their love is fragile, and all it will take is a blow from the past to shatter it all.
A Macmillan Audio production from St. Martin's Griffin.

Hmm
I forgot that I find Stella Bloom’s narration style a bit too ‘am-dram’ couldn’t finish, but will probably buy on kindle instead as I want to know what happens.
It’s not a comedy, something happens quite quickly that turns life on it’s head, so I’m not sure if it will get funny, but not so far!
I do love Helena Hunting and her writing so hope to enjoy it as a read instead of listen

There's 8 hours and 32 minutes I won't get back
firstly I have t ask why was this in romantic comedy section, its about as funny as a natural disaster!
Sorry but it's just dull and predictable, thinking back not much actually happened, sorry Helena but you were off your game when you wrote this one.
Normally Helena hunting's books are terrific, which I guess in a weird way makes this even more disappointing, I can't think of a single thing notable in this book or positive to say about it

Simple, sweet, best friends-to-lovers!
Avery and Dylan have been friends and roommates since college. When Avery is injured after an accident, Dylan takes on the role of her caretaker, the new proximity highlights feelings they’ve never addressed. Eventually Avery is ~frustrated~ and Dylan is the perfect person to help her with all her needs. The TikToks write themselves!
I enjoyed this, but the beginning had a bit too much “I’m not like other girls” energy for 2021. The third act conflict was predictable and shallow, and for such a steamy premise the ~scenes~ didn’t go very far. I also wish there was more discussion about disability even with Avery’s temporary disability. Overall, this was some steamy fluff, exactly what the doctor ordered!
3.5 stars!

Did not like the plot: and how Avery was treated.
I did not like how Avery was to blame for everything. I think it’s ridiculous. How is it her fault her sister is all stressed out when she is injured and unable to work to her full capability. Also why is okay for Declan to completely ignore her and she’s okay with that. And still just ignores how he treated her after their argument. And still she’s there whenever he wants to talk to her but complete ignores her when she tried to reach out. I usually like this authors book but In this case she just made women look like we are just a little puppy following over a man regardless of how the man treats a women and disregards ones feelings.

Great story but...
I love Helena Hunting books she always has amazing Narrators. However my only criticism is it can be somewhat predictable. Boy meets girl they start an amazing relationship then some stupid miscommunication happens and they break up 🙄 yes I love how they come back together I just wish I didn't always know going in that once the relationship started at some point they were going to break up over something stupid.

So enjoyable
This was a great story it was extremely enjoyable it had emotion in it. You could literally feel the chemistry between the 2 characters which is great when you can feel that. Of course that could have had something to do with the narrator's they did such an Outstanding job. I would recommend this story in a heartbeat to anyone.

Friends to Lovers Perfection!!
When Sparks Fly by Helena Hunting was such a passionate, fun, and swoony slow burn friends to lovers story. Declan and Avery were easy characters to fall in love with, and had me willing and wishing for these two to finally give into their desires, learn to trust each other, and find their own HEA together.
Stella Bloom and Jason Clarke narrate this audio, and are so, so good together! Stella Bloom is amazing performing all of Avery's vulnerabilities, frustrations, determination, pain, and passion. Jason Clarke completely stole my heart with his performance of Declan. Jason made you feel all of Declan's guilt, hesitancy, lust, trust, and love in his narration. Both narrators had me completely captivated with their talented performances.
Overall I adored everything about this book! In this book you get some hilarious hobby horsing, forced proximity, steamy shower times, two best friends who may be a bit blind to love, challenging and vulnerable situations, slow burn perfection, sweet and sassy sisters, and a whole lot of love! Thank you Helena Hunting, for another amazing, heartwarming story that left a huge, goofy grin on my face.

No Sparks
This was painful and forced. While it did pick up slightly in the last few chapters, I was very turned off to both characters. I do believe some was do to the narration of Stella Bloom. This was not like a regular Helena Hunting book.

Hope the Next Book is Better
When you purchase an audiobook with two narrators you expect two narrators. The book is in large part narrated by Stella Bloom and while there's nothing wrong with Stella Bloom this was the first reason it was difficult to like the male character so if you're wanting to buy this audiobook to hear Jason Clarke you're going to be disappointed. On top of that the story really doesn't make for a plausible ending so it was a bit of a chore to just get the to the end, which at that point I knew wasn't going to make a lot of sense and just feel dumb to me. I bought the next book during the same sale but I'm not in any rush to listen to it now and unless it's exceptional I'm going to give up.

Absolute delight!
Declan is a favorite book boyfriend now and that’s saying a lot because I detest jealousy.
Avery was so patient. This book was on the edge of perfect until she mentions how dorky it is to listen to her parents vintage CDs of The Cure. LOL
The only thing I really had a hard time with was the editing for mispronunciation. The word is dour …dower…. not Do-er.

Meh
Story was just ok, the author tried too hard for the angst. London is horrible.
