Wow
This book totally had me on the edge of my seat rooting for Evie to survive, dispite all that was against her.
If you like me felt there where a lot of unanswered questions in the first one regarding Evie and her horrific past ...well the answers are here.
A really good 2nd part to this series .

A well written and thought out story with interesting characters . I will now be looking out for other Michael Robotham books.

Good sequel
Once you get used to the narrators voice this is a good story. Cyrus’s voice and Evie’s are ok it’s many of the other characters voices which are less convincing. This story could stand alone but I think is better if you have listened to/read the first book. It links child abuse, trauma, attachment issues, people smuggling and power together so well. Evie and Cyrus both live through childhood trauma and have to learn to trust again. Good read

A solid sequel
Michael Robotham is the best, as is Joe Jameson. I was very invested in this story, and grown so fond of Evie, that this story hurts. (And that's why I'm forgiving some author's decisions he used for pushing the plot.)

Enjoyed the storyline very much
I found this a very well written and well narrated book. The story was told well for such a diabolical crime without too much in depth detail. My only criticism was the strange selection of names the male characters had. Sometimes less is more when there are quite a few characters in various scenes because I struggled to remember who was who at one point. Just a small point. In a book you can flip back to refresh but not so much in audio books, so the storyline gets a bit fuzzy as you try to think ‘who was that again’
I will certainly be looking for more books from this author. well done!

Dark story, well narrated
I like Michael Robotham’s books but they are rather dark; it’s a bit depressing that there are always police and powerful rich people who are corrupt. This was ok but not one of his best; I guessed early on who the bad police guy was. Well narrated as always.

A good listen
I enjoyed the first in the series but it left me wanting more. We’ll, here it is! Not laid out on a plate, it takes some unexpected turns. I enjoyed it as the situation unravelled and new characters joined alongside the familiar ones.
