When midnight comes

Another absolutely brilliant book. It finished far too soon for me. And yet again you have a wonderful narrator in Annie Aldington.

easy listen

I love books narrated by Annie Aldington but this one was the first I've listened to that's been written by Beryl Matthews and to be honest it was a bit twee. Even if Chrissy was as charismatic as she's portrayed, it's hard to believe that the upper class in the mid 19th century would run about all over the country looking for her, considering her low birth and the fact she never actually does anything notable apart from have a quick chat to the horses. Even the travellers were enamoured. I'm not sure if this is Ms Matthews normal writing style or not but it's not very authentic. However Annie Aldington delivered a sterling performance as usual and it's an easy listen with a happy ending
