Summary

Some universal truths refuse to be ignored. Peanut butter and jelly are a match made in heaven. Spaghetti and meatballs are best friends forever. And guys like Tyler Knight don't go for girls like Cam Emerson. She knew from the second she met him that he didn't belong on her bookshelf, the six-foot-six ex-tight end with a face so all-American, it could have sold apple pie. So she shelved him next to the supermodels and rock stars and took her place on her own shelf - the one with the flannel-clad, pasty-faced comic book nerds. Most of her boyfriends have existed between the pages of books, but rather than worrying over her own lacking love life, she puts all her energy into playing Cupid, using her job at the book bar, Wasted Words, as her stomping ground. Tyler Knight always looks on the bright side. His career-ending injury turned into a job as a sports agent. A horrible breakup led him to Cam, his quirky, smart roommate who is far more beautiful than she realizes. She's made it perfectly clear she's not interested in him - not like that at least - but if she ever changes her mind, he won't hesitate. Because he doesn't see the lines she's drawn between them, as much as she insists that they're there. Deep down he knows that despite their differences, they're a match well made.

5 Wasted Word Stars

This was a first for me by this author… I KNOW right…Thank god I rectified that!!!

Why did I wait so long to pick up a Staci Hart book it was FABULOUS. I mean it, it was the right kind of sweet and romance that I just LOVE.

Hopeless romantic over here remember. I can’t say enough good things about the story the characters were so relatable.

Cam Emerson is the matchmaker of the group she can see two people and have a feeling they will be good for each other.
But she had kind of take herself out of the equation you see she has been hurt before and felt like he was out of her league so now she had a rule that she can only date with in her league or what she thinks is her league.

Tyler Knight is Cam’s best friend and roommate. He’s having a time with what he used to be and who he is not that he doesn't accept it just that it’s hard to be around what he loved. And one of the things or people I should say he has feeling for doesn't show the same in return or does she?

I really enjoyed watching these two dance, because that’s what it felt like give and take. And a little bit miscommunication along the way. Growing pains is another way of thinking about it.

The narration was wonderful I really enjoyed Kirsten Leigh’s performance. She brought Cam to life for me. Jason Clarke was good, sometimes I felt like he was just speaking the words. Hmm does that make sense? He has a wonderful voice don’t’ get me wrong. I would and will defiantly seek out audiobooks from both narrators.

Feel good book

Any additional comments?

While this book was utterly predictable, the narration was good and it kept me interested. I did feel a little bit like Tyler was too perfect and that felt unrealistic to me, but I listened to it quickly and enjoyed it. If you're in the mood for a feel good romance post-college aged then this is for you! Just don't expect any crazy twists.

Possibly the Coolest Bar/Coffee & Book Shop Ever!

My favorite type of narration!! I love when the woman reads all the women voices and the man reads all the male voices regardless of POV.

The main character, Cam Emerson, seems like a busy body. She enjoys setting people up, reads a lot, knows several languages and is probably someone that would get on my nerves if I knew her because she's a little too perky. But in the story, she grows on me and is a little endearing. She works at a bar called Wasted Words, it seems to be a cross between a bar and a book store.

Her best friend/roommate is a former football player who is a 6'6" beautiful specimen. Tyler Knight ends up subletting a room with Cam after a break up with his model girl friend. Tyler and Cam are great friends and Tyler spends a lot of time at Wasted Words with Cam and her co-workers/friends.

There is chemistry between them but Cam has made it clear they are in the friend zone only. Her reasons for this unfold as the story progresses but Tyler doesn’t understand. The story is slow to get to the point but I enjoyed the process and it ends in a HEA.

My woulds would be wasted

no description can do the story Justice. This is probably, hands down, my favorite 20-something love story. It had just the right mix of stereotyping and breaking the mold. the only negative thing I can possibly say about this story, is the fact that the girl narrator reading could not pronounce Inuyasha, Dalek, and I think one other nerd reference. But the fact that this book even references those things that all makes up for it LOL

Toss up

Ok, I love me some Staci Hart and this book was no different. Lots of sweet and sexy and medium angst.

This wasn't my favorite tho because Cam (the heroine) was super whiny and it was kind of much ado about nothing.

That being said, I totally listened to the whole thing and Tyler was freakin hot and adorable and confident and so incredibly sweet to Cam that I would listen over and over just to get more Tyler.

Jason Clarke and Kirsten Leigh are fantastic narrators. Love them. However I loathe duet narration or conversational narration or whatever it is called. BUT if you are going to listen to one, this is a great one to listen to. They do a great job with it. I just wish it didn't exist. 😉

Finally

I have to wait long periods of time to find a book that is narrated in this manner. I was so overjoyed when I found it. Jason and Kristen did a remarkable job in their narration. I would love to listen to more books read by them in this manner. The story itself was slow and I really did not care for it much but the narration made it worth listening to. Wish there were more books read in this manner. I miss listening to books. I just do not like hearing females trying to sound like men and men trying to sound like women. Well worth a listen.

Fantastic duet narration!

Wasted Words starts off light and fun with a somewhat quirky heroine. Her and her roommate Tyler have been dancing around each other for a while but they are strictly in the "friend" zone. Cam has issues that prevent her from acknowledging that there could be more with him and instead spends most of her time meddling in others lives. I found it hard to like or feel for Cam because she came off as judgmental and childish at times. Tyler on the other hand was sweet and perfect. I really wanted him to get his HEA, and he was the reason I wanted to finish the story.

The narration was fantastic! This was my first time listening to these narrators do this style of narration (male speaks for male and female speaks for female) and they nailed it.

Wasted Words

Would you listen to Wasted Words again? Why?

Yes.The story was good (adaptation of Emma so no surprises there). Staci Hart wrote a fun book with fun characters. She built characters in Cam and Tyler. I love it when authors write different H/H and Cam and Tyler aren't the typical NA heroes.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Edit out unnecessary scenes with minor characters. The whole scene at the game with the twins was wasted words. It didn't contribute to the story, growth of the relationship etc..

What about Jason Clarke and Kirsten Leigh ’s performance did you like?

I loved their performance best. They brought Cam and Tyler to life.I loved the relationship between Cam and Tyler. The banter, simmering sexual tension, the friendship between them. It all came to life with a wondweful narration by Jason and Kirsten.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The moments Cam and Tyler communicated openly about their feelings. The fear of starting a relationship that will damage the friendship between them was moving.
