Summary

The battle is far from over.

When the lives of her loved ones are put in peril, who will Audrey turn to for help?

On the surface, Audrey's existence in the afterlife is coming together. Her quirky new mentor guides her on the path to becoming the demon hunter she always hoped. She has great friends and even a kinda-sorta-maybe new boyfriend. But if things are so wonderful, why is Logan never far from her thoughts?

After learning her family is the target of an unprecedented demonic siege, Audrey puts all she’s gained in jeopardy by defying heavenly authorities and returning to Earth. Stranded at the place she once called home with the one person she's been desperate to forget, she'll face vicious monsters, betrayers, and a legion of demons with an insidious weapon that even her celestial sword can't defeat.

Will Audrey’s mistakes in the afterlife be what destroys the lives of the ones she loves the most?

Awards: Alliance Award (Reader’s Choice); 2018 Realm Makers Award.

Exciting sequel to Huntress

...”though your path may seem hard at times, it brings the greatest reward. Some may choose to take what appears to be the easy way, but in the end they’ve only hurt themselves.”

Audrey is settling into her new life under the tutelage of her quirky new mentor, Hugh. With her skills as a demon hunter almost complete and a possible new boyfriend in tow, Audrey should be on top of the world. So why can’t she stop thinking about Logan?

When Audrey learns that her family is the target of an unprecedented demonic attack, she goes against orders and sets out to rescue them, not realising that she’s falling straight into Satan’s hands.

Warfare is the second compelling instalment of the After Life series and picks up a couple of months after the events of Huntress. Audrey’s skills a a demon hunter as well as her confidence has grown in leaps and bounds under Hugo’s tutelage. I suspected that there was more to Hugo than Audrey realised and couldn’t wait for the penny to drop.

Audrey’s reckless impulsive nature, while frustrating at times was understandable. However, I felt that spiritually she has come along way as was apparent in her confrontation with Satan.

Morgan was a welcome intriguing addition and I hope he’ll play a bigger role in the next instalment as I have a sense that he’s not beyond redemption. Through Morgan, we also gain insight into Logan’s troubled past which I found interesting. I had my suspicions about the mole that was reporting back to Satan and was surprised when it transpired that it was someone else.

The world building throughout has been exceptional. The battle between the hunters and demons was impressive. The scene depicting the power of prayer when Audrey’s family are in despair was my favourite as are the interactions between Audrey and God.

The books ends on a cliffhanger which I’m looking forward to unraveling in the third instalment, Dominion.

I received a free advanced audible copy of Warfare read by the excellent Vanessa Moran and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
