About this listen

"War Diary: The Diary of Mike Rogers" is a poignant historical record that chronicles the experiences of a young boy, Mike Rogers, during World War II. The diary begins in 1939, capturing the tense atmosphere as Britain enters the war. It provides detailed daily entries that cover the significant and mundane aspects of wartime life, from the fear of air raids and the impact of rationing to personal reflections and observations of everyday occurrences.

Mike's entries offer a personal perspective on major events such as the Battle of Britain and the Dunkirk evacuation, giving readers a glimpse into the emotional and physical realities faced by civilians during the war. His writings also reflect the growth and changes he undergoes as the war progresses, capturing the resilience and adaptability of the human spirit in times of crisis.

The diary not only serves as a historical document but also as a testament to the personal impact of war on individuals and communities, highlighting themes of courage, loss, and hope.

Appallingly read

The reader was just awful. Worse than awful. He’s being paid to read a book about World War 2. Is it too much to ask that he might know how to pronounce the names of the foremost figures from each country. Goebbels, Petain? Or even countries and capital cities? Just woeful.
