Life-changing

I re-lived parts of my youth and learned how hard someone has to work to truly make a difference and to be different. As Picasso famously said - Inspiration will find you working' Vivienne is the epitome of this. She has lived, always, in the now and has never been distracted by the nonsense of the machine and it grinding sloth.
I learned so much about climate change, illegal imprisonments, the stupidity of government and why current economics is to blame for the destruction of our beautiful environments. She uses the example of a chicken to illustrate this - she makes it so simple.
This book is intelligent, insightful, funny, moving and illuminating. Vivienne is a bright star.
Thank you Vivienne. Until now, I have had only one hero in my life and now, I have two.

Compelling and inspiring

Would you consider the audio edition of Vivienne Westwood to be better than the print version?

The narrator was so good, often I thought I was listening to Vivienne Westwood speaking.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Vivienne's tales of hard graft, fashion and revolution is utterly compelling.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yep. I didn't listen to the radio for a week. At the very least this is a really interesting tale, with shocks and laughs aplenty. I also found the messages in the story to be invigorating and an invitation to value my own brain and feed it with better quality information and ideas.

The only obvious down side is in an audio version there are no pictures, but the descriptions of her buffalo phase and pirates collection are quite visual anyway.

I started reading this book and Vivienne was alive and I finished it and she had sadly passed. RIP Vivienne.

Unbalanced and sycophantic.

Interesting cultural references. Sickening and unbalanced praise. The woman has talent. Her self importance shines through like a beacon and I ended the book disliking her. Sections were skimmed over or whitewashed. Disappointing all round.

Amazing

Loved this book, such a personal insight into a truly fascinating life. Narration was as if Vivienne was really speaking her parts. Would highly recommend.

Beautifully narrated and a wonderful listen

I was one of those who 'dared' to enter 430 Kings Road and brought her clothes in the late 70's, I can tell you it was both intimidating and life changing, as such I have followed the rise of Ms Westwood and still do today, she was a genius then and still is now.

Enlightening

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Found Vivienne as a person and the history around her work interesting. Also enjoyed her process in design.
