About this listen
Janie Morgan is 22, petite, has red hair, and a temper to match. Although she had a few boyfriends, she is a bit old-fashioned—saving herself for her husband. She has always had a love for animals, and although her father is the town vet, she didn’t want to follow in her father’s footsteps. When her grandmother dies and leaves her some money, she buys a small farm and opens her own animal rescue center. When her father decides to retire, he tells Janie that he has hired someone to take his place, and Janie is reluctant to have to work with a new vet.
Paul Henson just graduated from veterinary school and is excited about his new job: a vet working in a small town. At six foot three, and very handsome, he had just gone through a bad breakup with his girlfriend, who was supposedly the love of his life.
When the two of them meet, there is an instant attraction, and Janie gives herself to Paul, willingly thinking her search for the perfect man is over, and plans to spend the rest of her life with him.
The arrival of another woman sends Janie’s world into a tailspin as she doubts that Paul’s love is real. As she struggles with her feelings, and finally confronts Paul, she discovers her doubts were all a misunderstanding. Making up, Janie and Paul pledge their love to each other once again, and just when Janie thought everything was on track, a message arrives, turning her perfect world upside down once again.

Cute idea, not well executed
Not sure why the book is broken up into sections but its such a short story that it really didn't need to be but that aside, I liked the idea of a small town vet and an animal rescue center owner CR with a HEA but sadly its a good idea that isn't well executed.
oh and definitely categorize wrong. It should be listed as a "sweet romance" with religious undertones

Paul & Janie
3.5 stars
The premises of the book is good although a bit unrealistic.
Sadie Alexa Knight narrates this book but unfortunately I found her voice and tone too chirpy specially when when the characters were sad, fighting or in the throes of passion.

Emotional and very sweet!
I am not sure that the series is aptly named because the story didn't contain a whole lot of passion. The relationships between the main characters, for the most part, is very sweet and supportive. I think what makes this book different is that it doesn't really focus on a HEA. Outside of books, relationships are hard work and often challenged by life's ups and downs. This book definitely covers the trials and tribulations of Janie and Paul's relationship. In fact, Janie is a little immature and insecure while Paul isn't the most forthcoming. That is a lot for the two to work through so that they can make it as a couple for the long haul. That said, Paul and Janie also face some very real and very serious issues. I think these are dealt with enough detail to be interesting but not so much that they become over the top.
Sadie Alexa Knight has a very light and easy-to-listen-to voice. Her voice has an edge of amusement as well. Perhaps it was a little too much though because even in the more serious moments, I found her voice to be slightly amused making it a bit mismatched.
