Summary

Hayden Taylor is running out of time.

After going to bed with a beautiful woman he met at a bar, Hayden discovers he has an unquenchable thirst and the body of a pro athlete. Between the six pack abs and the extreme hangover, he can't decide if last night was a good thing or...something else.

Hayden quickly discovers that, if left unchecked, this thirst could end up killing him, but only if he fails to find the woman who turned him.

What's more, there's something unique about him, even among the vampires. Hayden isn't like the rest of them. There's something in his blood - something magical, almost otherworldly - and it's beginning to attract the wrong kind of attention.

Warning: This book contains a harem, violence, and cursing.

Crude

While I normally enjoy this sort of book and at first I was surprised with some actual character development, it started going wrong about 5 minutes in. I found the main character an irredeemable bozo with no personality; practically a walking erection.
There were jumps from scene to scene with sudden and jarring irregularity, excessive cussing that would only appeal to the jeuvanile and a startling lack of coherence.

The narrator did a fine job but it couldn't be salvaged.

however, I've heard a lot worse stories and it didn't cost me anything from the catalogue, so it gets 3 stars.

Try it for yourself if you fancy it, I'm fussy so my judgements might not be the same as yours.

Another incels fantasy

Very much reminded me of vampire sorcerer but didn’t have a story as good as it. Just another desperate incel writing about his desperate desire to have sex while throwing in some tiny amount of story about vampires. The part that took me away from the book was that vampires pretty much need sex like blood 😂

laughable

I don't normally write reviews but I listened to this because it was free and I had nothing better to do.

the protagonist is hyper masculinity to a point of ridiculous. the female characters are even worse.

the story is about 3 hours long if that. the rest is just 7 hours of bad sex scenes that seem to be written by a virgin with only the idea of what sex might be. that's even after the fact the main character seems to only last about 20 seconds with each encounter.

the only thing that kept me going was the narrator who is actually pretty good and just to find out how bad the actual story was.

only listen If you want to laugh out loud at how bad it is.

Poorly written erotica

I was looking for a fantasy novel, what I got was trashy, cheap juvenile erotica. Would not have downloaded if it was described as erotica.

Soft poem

Not much you can say other than it’s a fairly poor story. Presumably in the free Plus section as few people are willing to pay for it. Gave up during first chapter and returned book with rest unread.

pretty good

It's great for what kind of book it is, don't expect a literary masterpiece that will blow you away. A fun book and great narrator.

Could have been so much better

It started ok and the first sex scene kind of fit into the plot but after it pretty much felt like a series of sex scenes tied together by an ok story. Its a shame as it wasn't badly written. There were times it felt like it was written by a 13 year boy who is really good at English. It could have been a lot better and reached a broader audience.

Enjoyable

This is not my usual genre but I thought I’d give it a go. The start was somewhat lack lustre, the normal introduction to the characters, but also introducing the readers to the parallel dimension of the Underworld. This was where I struggled. However once I’d got my head around and developed the scenery in my head the story line rocketed along! . I was so consumed I couldn’t put it down and did it in a night and a day. I will give one spoiler away… it’s ends with a cliff hanger… and I’m about to start book 2! Wish me luck 😊🙏

To much sex

The sex scenes got in the way of the story which made it boring to listen to. i do not mind sex scenes if it is correctly implemented, bombarding you with it makes it no more than a teenage wet dream. The actual story has some potential.

Story of the Man Child

I wanted to quit this book a couple times but stuck it out to the end. I don’t think it’s much of a spoiler to say that the title spoils the book. He isn’t a mage or a vampire until the very end of the book. The MC is a whiny idiot that will sleep with anything that moves. He isn’t smart, he isn’t smooth. He is a jackass that despite the ending is just given everything. So if you want some harem style sex with a guy putting in zero effort go ahead and listen. Otherwise move on.

it's just a porn thing

why, why can't there be a separate genre for fantasy that leans so heavily on erotica that it overshadows any plot that may be hiding somewhere within the amateurish prose of this style of novel?

Predictable and tasteless (not my thing)

The main character is a dullard and doesn't seem to be able to put two and two together at times when he really should be able to(or at least have an inkling of what's going on). This causes the main character to be fairly obnoxious and annoying at times. The gratuitous sex and rather predictable plot points made me not enjoy this book very much. Seriously if you read a decent amount almost everything is rather predictable and you will see coming a mile away. I feel that there was potential here but it was squandered. If the plot was a little more complex, less predictable and the characters less one-dimensional other aspects of the book probably wouldn't have bothered me too much. The vampires feel more like succubi/incubi that occasionally need to drink blood. The plot itself almost feels like it was come up with by an adolescent who reads too much ecchi shounen manga. It's short enough to where it wasn't really a big deal to finish it. But I will not continue to read this series.

had potential but you goofed it up

right so the sex scenes are sexy the fight scenes are exciting and our main character is too dumb to live he walks around through the entirety of this book with a sense of entitlement and women just throw themselves at his feet because once again he is the special and not through any action of his own we can at least take solace in the fact that dumb he maybe the guy at least does know how to take action if you can look past someone that is so infuriatingly stupid but it kills the joy of everything else then you might enjoy this book mean I'm done

Absolute worst book ever

Its pretty clear why the highest praise they could get for the cover of this book was from an "Amazon Customer."
Character development doesn't exist.
The relationships are trite.
If you don't like sex scenes they are in every other chapter.
If you do like them, they are so not errotic and described in a way that makes it pretty clear that every time is about 2 seconds long yet both parties are "blown away" with how great it is.
The fight scenes make no sense. In the last big battle he is attacked by a battalion of elite killers. One of them "grabs his arm and head butts his CHEST followed by multiple punches to the face."
Who head butts someone in the chest?!? It wouldn't do anything, and then follows it up with punches to the head? Isn't that backwards?
The main character constantly "knees him in the chest."
That's a bit high to knee someone and again pointless.
It's like the author has neither had sex or even seen a fight, let alone been in one...
I've gotten thru plenty of bad series in the hopes they'll get better or out of a mild curiosity to see how it ends, but think this actually might be the 1st time I won't.
This book was free and STILL cost too much...
Just awful.

The plot had potential

The concept for the plot had potential, but the excessive sex scenes that didn't just not add to the plot but took away from the story. the sex scenes seemed to the main focus of the author and was told to put some filler in-between. it's described in more detain what a woman's sex organ feels like than anything else in the story. My wife said it sounded like a book to trick teenage boys into reading and every other chapter was for them to rub one out too as a reward.

Not my cup of tea

Something about undead bar skanks doesn’t do it for me, go figure. Nothing wrong with the writing and the narrator doesn’t stutter but I just couldn’t get invested in the characters.

Such a let down

It was pretty good for the first third, narrator is great but the writer is just to much of an amateur.

Story drags, emotionless empty sex scenes, a character who gets in a RAGE overtime there is a fight, a lot of blah blah blah dialogue that is just pointless, and just all around boring characters. I’ll give him that Hayden is kinda funny but everyone is just way to one dimensional and plain. Vampires that feed off sex or just Sucubi/Incubi that suck blood your choice, either way the sex craving thing gets annoying.

It Made My Skin Crawl

I'm sex positive, but the first-person narration from the point of view of the main character undresses every woman and imagines sex acts with all of them. These aren't relationships that culminate in sex. This is a sex addict who isn't showing a healthy libido and interest in potential sex partners but is instead objectifying them and imagining sex acts with them even when he's woken up hung-over and undead. It's not only creepy, but it kills the story.

I'm absolutely interested in a story - even a super short one that is a third the size of your average Harry Potter novel - about a guy who is turned into a vampire mage and for there to be sex scenes, but this character's main trait is that he is a creep. The author wants to write about a creepy character being a creep, so the book should be titled Creep.
