Summary

For as far back as she can remember, Fatima Ward has been told that she would be a doctor. She has never challenged that path and secretly fulfills her love of telling stories online. While working on a fan fiction story using real-life rapper Jericho, she finds comfort in a new reader as her personal life implodes around her.

Jericho was born Jaren Young in Brooklyn, New York. Basketball was his first love, but an incident in college ripped that dream off from him. He turns to his gift of writing poetry and becomes one of hip-hop’s top emcees after just one album. While in the midst of working on his second album, he is introduced to an online story based on his life. After reaching out to the author to learn about her inspiration, the two anonymously connect on a level neither of them expected.

On the fence

This story would be better with Jakobi and Wesleigh narrating it, Patryce’s narration took away from the book; she didn’t have the right tone and depth for the story. Lots of drama and irritating situations that made me go “hmmm”. Jakobi is 5 stars but had to remove a star for Patryce.

Great story

I like the uniqueness of this story. Different kind of love story with a bit more background than most. Of course Jakobi Diem my favorite narrator did an outstanding job 👏 🙌

Great Story

This is a very well written book. Enjoyed it on Audible as well. As always Jakobi did his thing. The female narrator waa a little to whiny at times.

About 3 hrs too long

The first 9 or so hours are amazingly well written and enjoyable, but once the final break up occurs and they have 3 hours of going back and forth with her being the whiny, confused, damsel trying to find her self, I was ready to throw the whole book away. JD does a great job as the male. The female narrator isn't horrible but does have some moments where her voice is too high or sounds odd. I've heard worse. I was more annoyed by Fatima playing games with Jericho than the voice. Decent. I don't feel deprived. I absolutely loved 3/4ths of this book.

Enjoyable

First time listening to the female narrator. Honestly her voice was a little annoying at times but the storyline is still worth listening to. Jakobi Diem was awesome as usual. For the length of the audiobook I expected more time to lapse by the end.

Creative

I really liked this story. I’m sure so many girls have dreamed of this scenario. I remember thinking Trey Songz would pick me out the crowd and pledge his undying love to me… lol.
The story developed in a really realistic way. I felt like we took the journey with them. Good Read. Female narrator was not good, her voice was whiny. I think a different female narrator could have made this a five star for me.

Great story !

We saw love grow organically , get tested and tried. I like this story because their love and choices were imperfect. We saw a relationship struggle and the work it took to get it back. I would have given this a 5 star all around but I did not like the narration by patryce , honestly had it not been for Jakobi I would have a returned the audible all together.

I dig it

First of all Jakobi Diem could read me the dictionary, the yellow pages, the obituary section of any news paper. Okay back to thr book, I loved the story although it kinda dragged on, but I would definitely read her work again 4 1/2 stars

Fan Fiction in real life

I really enjoyed this story. It was a unique premise and well told. The narration by Jakobi was as masterful as always. Patryce Williams was not the worst narrator I’ve ever heard, but her very high pitched voice was jarring at times. All in all, this book was well worth both my credit and my listening time.
