Summary
Tonia Brown brings you three tales of terror from the wild outdoors.
"Hissy Fit": Poor Steven falls into a snake pit and tries not to panic. To his dismay, the situation gets weird when the snakes start calling him by name.
"Mrs. Trillby's Garden": Kids have gone missing all over a small town. But that won't stop this trio of boys from seeking some late night summer fun by sneaking into the local witch's garden. Once they're in, they might have some trouble getting back out.
"Waste Not, Want Not": A backwoods roadkill connoisseur comes across an almost perfect deer carcass. She thinks she's getting a free meal, but will she become the dinner instead of the diner?

A bit of parcel tongue Shenanigans and more
The book descriptions pretty well pin down the three different tales. On the whole, I have to say that the stories aren't half bad, but my favorite was the Waste Not, Want Not story. I've never had roadkill stew, but I know a few friends that subsisted on the stuff when I was younger, and this story made me think of them. Thus, the creep factor was a bit more amplified than normal. Each story is well written and reminds me of another female horror, Roma Gray, who has some really cool stuff of her own. So, needless to say, I enjoyed the book. It was a nice little hour and a half distraction.
That said, the stories were only amplified by the incredible narration done by Anneliese Rennie. I got this book solely because she narrated it, and I am glad that I did. her talents really amped up the tales and made what could have been a passable distraction into a creepy-crawly crunch of chills. She definitely brings in the goosebumps and makes you glad that you can listen with the lights on. On occasion, I will say that a narrator elevates a story from good to great, and in this case, she takes us from the ground floor all the way to the fiftieth level!
Get this audiobook if you like some good chills performed by an incredible narrator. Then if you are wise, check out some of Rennie's other books, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
As for me, I'm going to check a little more into Tonia Brown and see what else that pen of hers has come up with. I'm pretty excited to see what other twisted stuff she came up with.
