Summary

Keep my head down and make it through my final year of school without attracting any attention. That was my plan.

The thing about plans? They change.

One day, I was an invisible loner, the next, my name was on everyone’s lips.

Why? I caught the attention of the wrong person.

I tricked Carter Blackthorne, the king of Alstone High.

He found out.

And now?

Now, he’s making me pay.

It’s time for you to pay the price. You tricked me once, but you won’t trick me twice. Ready or not, here I come....Trick Me Twice is a standalone new adult high school romance with bullying and enemies-to-lovers themes. This book contains mature situations and content.

Stand alone story

The duet narration with Gregory Salinas and Stephanie Nemeth-Parker was excellent, and they both did a fabulous job. I enjoyed the book even more because I listened to it.

The story stands entirely alone, although I was glad that I had read The Four series and Cross the Line prior to this one, as characters have brief appearances in this story. Cross the Line takes place during the same time period as Trick Me Twice, and features some of the same parties.

I would recommend this story to fans of bully romance, but also to people who enjoyed The Four. I appreciated that the heroine ultimately stood her ground and set limits.

Trick Me Twice

I absolutely loved this book. It’s not as dark as some from Becca Steele but boyyo she sure writes angst, bully romance to perfection!

Raine and Carter Blackthorn are the main characters at Alstone High again. Where we met the Four. This book is a direct spinoff of The Four. We’re treated to the whole gang peeking in here. But especially Cassius.

I could relate to Raine in how she hides from others and just tries to make it through high school. Her infatuation for the boy next door is dreams only because Carter despises her. Carter is forced to drive Raine to and from school and he makes sure to degrade her each way. She shy and mainly friendless except for one girl who sees the girl just wanting to come out into the world. That friendship is amazing and really helps Raine break into herself.

The Flight Night party is a brilliant place to find herself while still being hidden. Wow the attraction and steamy tension between her and Carter was awesome.

Becca really knows how to write bully romance and here she gives us mystery and surprises that add to the storyline.

The Narration is amazing. Gregory Salinas has just the most amazing ability to sound British and holds my emotions and feelings in each book that I hear him do. Stephanie has a voice to showcase the innocence of Raine and I felt all of the emotions with her performance as well. Awesome writing. Amazing writing and just the ticket for getting away from it all for a while.

Trick Me Twice

Okay this book was really good, I like the way it started lol. I've been doing so many bully romance novels, but I have to admit that I really enjoyed this one, I like the idea that he didn't know who she was and how he kinda opened up to her. For so many years she tired to be unseen, but that didn't work and when he found out that the girl he Caught that night was the one he's been picking on this whole time. Then he turns and makes her life helll, until he starts to fall . That end ending was great. The narrator's did an amazing job too.

Ok I hated this book, fine I’m lying but it ended and I was not ready for this to end. The characters were so interesting I couldn’t stop listening and I know this is one that I will listen to more than once. The bully aspect was well done and naturally flowed in the story. Becca Steele is an absolute genius as an author.

Duet Narration!

Trick Me Twice is an intense high school bully romance between Carter and Raine. While I don't know what Raine could possibly see in Carter, I enjoyed the storyline with its mysterious happenings along with a few twists and turns. While this story is a standalone, several of the side characters come from the series The Four so if you love that series, you should definitely check out this one as well. Gregory Salinas and Stephanie Nemeth-Parker both did a wonderful job bringing this story to life with their duet narration.

Trick Him Once, but Don't Trick Him Twice

This was my first Becca Steele book and I absolutely loved it!!

Raine, the quiet shy girl. She has one friend and is just trying to make it through High School. Then that one friend convinces her to break out of her shell. Her life is forever changed after her first night of trying to be “regular”.

Carter, the Captain of the Football team and the King of Alstone High. He is in such denial of how he feels about this girl that according to him is not in his league.

Raine tricked Carter once, but will she dare to do it a second time?

I enjoyed watching Carter have his ah ha moments. I enjoyed Raine finally breaking out of her shell. And the whole cat and mouse thing was awesome.

IMO, this story was on the lighter side of a bully romance. It’s not as dark and brutal as some of the ones out there. But that didn’t take away from the overall enjoyment of the entire story and plot. There was a little mystery thrown in with some twists that just made the story flow so well.

So, will I be reading Becca Steele again, you betcha!!

I listened to the audio and the Narrators were perfect for their parts. Stephanie Nemeth-Parker just had such a sweet tone and really brought Raine’s emotions to life. Gregory Salinas did a great job changing voices for all the male characters, even the one with the American accent.

Audio ARC received and I decided to leave an honest review.

I cannot even tell you how much I loved this. This was my favorite Becca Steele book. Carter and Raine were PERFECT! I loved the tension, the tricks, the hidden and stolen moments, the chemistry, the suspense, I just loved everything. Carter was the perfect enemy. They were both perfect lovers. The narration was spot on.

My Thoughts on Trick Me Twice

Talk about enemies to lovers/bully romance goodness. This book was exactly what I was hoping for and more from this author. It may be set in a high school setting, but with eighteen-year-old characters. The leading man is the type you love to hate when he’s being bad. But when he starts trying to change you feel for him. By the end you love him the way the leading lady does. And speaking of the leading lady, she was excellent. I loved that I could really see the character development with her specifically. I enjoyed seeing her come into her own and stand up to the leading man when needed. This was the kind of story I didn’t want to press pause on and happily went back to it if I had to pause.

The narrators were a huge part of what I loved. They both gave such fantastic performances. I feel like I love Gregory Salinas more and more with every story I listen to with him. Stephanie Nemeth-Parker was new for me, but definitely made a great first impression. I liked the different tones they had for the different characters and overall just thought they elevated the story.

Absolutely loved listening to this I didn’t want the book to end. Was great that Lena and Cassius from The Four were in it quite a bit and Weston , Caiden and Winter made a brief appearance.

Enemies to lovers romance!

I loved this enemies to lovers bully romance!

I expected this one to be a tad darker.
But liked the overall storyline and vibe

The characters were likeable and well fleshed out.

The duet narration was smooth, flawless and enjoyable.

I actually enjoyed the audiobook more than the ebook /paperback

4 STARS

First I’ll start off with the narration. It was really good and in duet style. The guys speaks all guy parts and the girl speaks all girl parts. Plus they have accents so very swoon worthy.

I liked that it’s a standalone although it seems to set up future stories for other characters. This is also sort of a spin off of her other series so you see a few familiar faces.

It’s enemies to lovers with what I would consider light bullying with a hint of mystery. Overall I enjoyed the story. Carter definitely is a bit softer than what I like but I couldn’t help but feel for him. Raine was sweet and you can’t help but want her to stand up for herself and in my opinion she pushed back enough.
So if you’re a fan of enemies to lovers and like bully books that don’t go to the extreme this is definitely for you.

after the high praises I dove in

i had a like almost loved this book nothing bad enough to loose any stars i just felt something was missing but i can't quite put my finger on, moving forward i want to say the narration was on point definitely will look for these narrators again.

over all this was an version of enemies to lovers with a twist that i vaguely suspected but nothing enough to not blow my mind when it happened the ending was perfect giving the couple their HEA.

Couldn't get enough of these 2!

So I love everything Becca Steele does and Trick Me Twice was no different! I think it did take me awhile to like the MMC in this one because he was such a jerk from the very beginning hahaha but he finally got the stick out of his butt and made it up to FMC. I loved this story of young love, heartache, intrigue, and SO MUCH ANGST!! I thought the plot was good, some of it was easy to spot but a couple twists were awesome and made for an exciting addition to this world Becca has beautifully created. OOOOOH and I was super happy and pleasantly surprised with the unexpected kink in this book. So freakin hot. Not my usual kink I fall in love with, but Becca does an amazing job with it, making me want more from these 2 haha. Surprising from these characters, especially Raine! That's why you gotta be on the lookout for the quiet ones guys/ladies, they might shock you hehe.

So I mentioned already that Carter took me awhile to fall for him, but he eventually grew on me! I loved how possessive he was. I loved seeing some of the others from the various Becca series (I had read Preston and Kian's story before this one, so it was cool to see this side of things ❤️). I thought Raine was absolutely adorable and her feistiness really grew and flourished. I thought the side characters were again really strong, already loved Lena from Winter and her books, loved how they were there for each other and helped grow and become the fabulous ladies they are now. Kian and Preston are still probably one of my favorite couples of Becca's but I think Cass and his leading lady will in a couple weeks when his book releases haha. I thought Cass was hilarious in this one, helping make Carter jealous. He is a great character for all of the novels so far (best friend, brother, hot college guys haha). He brought more levity and heart to heart talks in this one that made my heart happy. I definitely didnt like Anastasia, but she grew on my by the end too. I am excited to read about Xavier and Imogen in the next story from the high school crowd.

In terms of the narration, I loved that Becca went with the male and female narrators doing their associated voices the whole time (not just swapping chapter to chapter). It made me immersed in the story even more! Gregory has done the male voices for the other books in this world and I thought he did a phenomenal job in this one. My usual feedback for him doesn't pertain here since he didnt have to do the female characters, Stephanie did them all. I haven't listened to her before and I thought she did a great job emulating Raine's meekness, but tenacity. I didnt want the audiobook to end, not gonna lie, highly recommend 😊.

If you couldn't tell, loved this story. Now some things were hard for me to read as I was bullied in high school, but I knew that going in so it didn't stop me from listening one bit. So if you have triggers, just be ready for that. It wasn't extremely dark comparatively for me, but some things Carter did was rough for Raine. 5/5 stars from me (I would have given more if I could!).

Exciting and Steamy Listen!!!

*** AUDIOBOOK REVIEW***

Trick Me Twice by Becca Steele is a steamy enemies to lovers romance. A fast paced story with a well developed storyline it’ll have you engaged from start to finish!

Carter and Raine have the perfect push and pull and the chemistry is palpable between these two.

The narration was spot on and I enjoyed that it was dial narration. Pacing was good and emotions translated well through the narrators.

Oh and we get a surprise appearance from another Becca Steele series.

What I loved most about this book was the element of suspense, especially near the end! I was literally late to work because I just couldn’t stop listening!

Overall a good story and great narration!

Stepping Out of Your Comfort Zone

Genre: Romance, Enemies to Lovers, HS Bully, suspense
Standalone: Yes
Part of a Series: No
POV: Raine and Carter

5/5

Trick Me Twice is the first book I've read by Becca Steele and holy hotness it was good. I enjoyed the push and pull and the mystery elements. I wasn't expecting the resolution to the mystery at all which is many points in the story's favor. I didn't want to stop listening, loved seeing Raine come out of her comfort zone to shine, and watching Carter, despite all his resistance, fall for the girl next door. I'd love to see the stories of the secondary characters.

I received this audiobook for free from Pink Flamingo Productions and Audiobook Obsession. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Trick Me Twice

Trick Me Twice is a story about Raine and Carter. This book is told from dual points of view. Raine and Carter are the same age and happen to be neighbors. Carter is a bully to Raine because his parents compare him to her. Raine likes to stay in the background and doesn't want to be noticed by everyone.

On a night out where everyone is dressed up in costumes, Carter picks Raine, not realizing it's her. She has feelings for him and kept her identity a secret. Once Carter realizes it was her to tricked him, he is upset. But at the same time, he starts to have feelings for her. He wants to see her in secret, but Raine wants nothing of the sort.

Someone is targeting Raine, and she believes it to be Carter due to how he treated her before. When she goes to him at school he snubs her and acts like she is trash beneath his feet. She has conflicting feelings for him. She wants to like him, but he also treats her badly.

Can they figure out who is targeting her before it's too late? Can Carter figure out his feelings, and stick with them? Can Raine learn to trust that Carter will be there for her when she needs him?

I really enjoyed this book. I read the ebook and enjoyed it, but the audio really brought the characters to life.

WOW! Awesome Story!

I received this audiobook free for an honest review as a member of the Pink Flamingo Productions review team. This enemies to lovers, high school bully story was awesome. The author wrote a quality story of life in a private school with the rich kids and the outcasts. This story is similar to her other series, "The Four", but with a twist. This story has suspense and romance. However, this is a slow burning romance which keeps the listener's/reader's attention. Couldn't put it down. The narrators (duet) did an excellent job with the characters' personalities and the overall story. Love it!!! Can't wait for more.
