Summary

New York Times best-selling author Lynsay Sands returns to the Highlands of Scotland in her hottest new historical romance yet!

Highlander Campbell Sinclair is no stranger to battle, so when he sees a lad attacked by bandits, he jumps into the fray. He didn't count on being stabbed. Grateful to the boy for nursing him back to health, Cam offers to accompany Jo safely to his destination. But when he accidentally comes across the lad bathing in the river, Cam discovers that Jo is actually Joan...with the most sinful of curves.

Joan promised her mother that she would deliver a scroll to the clan MacKay. But traveling alone is dangerous, even disguised as a boy. When a Scottish warrior lends his aid, she is more than relieved...until he surprises her with lingering kisses and caresses that prove her disguise hasn't fooled him. As their passion ignites, will the secrets of the scroll force a wedding...and lead to a love she's never known?

Hot highlander!

Where does To Marry a Scottish Laird rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

a thoroughly enjoyable book. Made my laugh with the humour along the way! It was heart warming love story where you just long for that happy ending!

Who was your favorite character and why?

i loved the highland male characters for their child like humour!

Refreshing narration of a light & enjoyable story

Interesting intrigue in a different setting than I'm used to (usually ballrooms of London or Bath), which was very refreshing. It didn't spot the culprit either before the reveal which was fun.

The narrator is WONDERFUL! But then a male Scottish brogue has always "done" it for me, I was slightly disappointed that he didn't read the next book, but I'll look up what else he has narrated for sure!

Full of self-pity, no excitement.

The Heroine is boring/tedious and totally predictable. "I am a poor commoner, I will let the Lord lead me to ruin, as I can't expect any better. Oh no I am not totally a commoner, but I can't be a lady" so on and on and on........
The hero is no better, "I will not ever marry again; I can't debauched an inoccent, but she is not the same class as me, oh no she is not what I thought, so I must marry her"
The backup characters are no better, in fact it comes across as a farce.
Don't waste your money, there is nothing cohesive about this story.

Nothing too serious!

A bucket book good to listen to due to the narrator tone, nothing too serious he made the funny bits good, and finally a Scottish person speaking on a scottish book.
Can go back and read this again.

Really enjoyed this

This story was surprisingly good.

The story had a wonderful pace with nuggets of detail helping to keep the story moving...

The narration was very good, although there were times when the female lead wasn't as strong as it was originally...

In all honesty the only thing I didn't enjoy was the ease of blame from the lead man onto the lead woman, however, it did fit the historical time line...

Adventure, Mystery and Romance. Its got it all.

This book is one great adventure from beginning to end. This is the story of Cam, who is sworn widower and Joan a young woman who's mother just recently died. They set out on a fast paced adventure that progresses from friendship to romance to love.

It is a well written book that is filled with charming characters, cute fun, adventure, mystery, and romance,. The narrator was wonderful and his accent was so........divine.

This one is worth a try especially if you enjoy highlanders.

The voice

I am visually impaired so audio books are my way to escape everything. The story was good but mostly it was Keiran Elliott's voice it settles me gives me a peace, I did not suffer my headaches of trying to survive a visual world but gave me sight into a world thank you. fizer718@gmail.com

Excellent, well written story

What did you love best about To Marry a Scottish Laird?

The plot is very well written. The characters are developed well. This story has romance, mystery and suspense. I actually found myself avoiding talking to people because I didn't want to spend one minute away from this book. I was that involved.

What was one of the most memorable moments of To Marry a Scottish Laird?

I am not one who writes a review giving away details of the story. People who do so give away too much information or spoil a critical point in the story. It is an excellent, romantic, sensual story with mystery and intrigue. What can get better than that.

What does Keiran Elliott bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Kieran Elliott is a breath of fresh air when it comes to a male narrator. I literally shuttered and got goosebumps when I heard him speaking in a sensual Scottish brogue. He did not make his female characters sound weak or simple minded while adding a softer side to his voice. The male characters were strong, kind and tender. Mr. Elliot is the first male narrator I truly feel encompassed all of the characters personality extremely well and created each character's voice in an appealing manner. I will listen to Mr. Elliot read anything.

Any additional comments?

Great book. Excellent narrator. Highly recommend it.

Well written story. Narrator, brilliant!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Not just a romance, which was was well written by itself, but a successful mystery as we'll. The performance of the narrator, Kieran Elliot, made this piece believable, authentic, and truly a joy to listen to.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Joan and Cam both are my favorite characters. Joan for her strength, even though she doubted herself more than once, was courageous in solving the intrigue involving her and her new friends and family and risking herself to love completely without reservation. And Cam for his steadfast love and devotion to Joan in spite of her lack of ladylike qualities.

Have you listened to any of Keiran Elliott’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

My first listen of Keiran Elliott. I will definitely look for more of his performances.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Epilogue, when Cam discovered Joan in labor, Joan could not banish Cam from the birthing room no mater how hard she tried to spare him from possible death of her and the child. Love, joy, possible death, survival-what a rush of emotion the author and narrator thrilled us with to the end!

FANTASTIC!

You can never go wrong with a Lynsay Sands novel! This one is especially well done. From beginning to end there isn't a chance your mind will wander.
I've listened to this one repeatedly and although there is little chance of forgetting it the fact is that it's so good that that doesn't even matter!
From plot and personalities to visuals this is a incredibly and thoroughly enjoyable book.

NARRATOR: Very good. This may be the only book I recall Keiran Elliott has narrated (that I've heard... ) and that is a shame because this performance is steller

CREDITWORTHY? Absolutely YES!

HEAT FACTOR: A full rolling boil!

I loved it!

I have Scottish blood running through my veins. Narrator Keiran Elliott's accent was music to my ears. I loved the story, I loved the narrator and the story had a little mystery to it. I for one could not find any fault with the book nor the narrator. My Nana was born in Scotland. Our clan's motto is Bydand!

Another hit for Lynsay Sands

Kieran Elliot, narrator...love this man's voice. It was perfect for this story.

Fun story with a bit of mystery in it.Just a tad long at times.
Really liked Joan, she as spirit, she is fun and lovable.
Cam is also a good lovable man. The secondary characters are also fun.

A diamond in the rough

This story was awesome. I didn't expect it to be so good. It was a page turn all the way until the end, and leave it to Lynsay sands to add some murder mayham in the mix! Well worth the credit!
