Uplifting
I adore Gok and really wanted to hear his story and what he has had to deal with. I feel uplifted by his humour, determination and unstinting belief that he would reach his goals. Funny, frank and at times heart wrenching but 100% worth listening to/reading.

Lovely Book
What made the experience of listening to Through Thick and Thin the most enjoyable?
Gok Wan Made This Book very enjoyable For me i loved it! I got to know his past and how hard he worked.

Up Close & Personal
This is a brilliantly written life story, very emotional in places, really funny in others, overall entirely inspiring, nothing like what I expected at all. Whether you are a Gok fan or not this is definitely worth a listen because of the subject matter of bullying, self loathing, low self esteem, cultural differences and challenges, struggling to make it, its all there laid bare plus much much more. Read in Gok's own voice which for me really did complete the package, I dont think the impact would have been the same with another narrator no matter how well spoken they were. It was nice to get up close and personal with one of our tv celebrities, I dont go in for sensationalism and this book had none of that which made a pleasant change from other autobiographies I've listened to in the past, this one is well put together, not OTT at all and certainly not a "love me please" tv personality advert either. Just an honest, true account of a life filled with many ups and downs and has that boy-next-door feel about it all too. Definitely recommended, witty, well written, extremely well read and spoken, I found it difficult to stop listening and finished this one in just two sittings then gave it to my teenage daughter to listen to as well who got a lot out of the experience in terms of reaffirming her belief that teenage girls discussing weight issues and trying to fit the moulds those glossy magazines and the media portray for them is not for her, she is even more proud of her shape and been empowered to show that as well after listening to the experiences described in this book. So thank you Gok for being so naturally inspiring through sharing your journey with us, really cant wait for a follow up book. Definitely a 5 stars rating for this one.

Through Thick and Thin
Listening to this book (read by the author, brilliant!)was a real eye opener. It made me understand how his experiences have enabled Gok to be really empathic with his 'clients' on TV, it isn't all show business 'show' but he has been there, having to face the bullying, so understands how people feel when they are not happy with themselves.

Great
Just thought how honest this was being from Leicester myself knew the places being talked about ,so added to the enjoyment helped me to understand as I myself was over weight as a child was moved.made me understand eating disorder well done 😀

Read this
Gok is a soul that I enjoy watching and listening to. Although at times he reads a little too quickly I thoroughly enjoyed his story and couldn’t put it down

Such a great book
Fantastic insight to Gok. It just shows you how with utter determination you can make so much for yourself. I am so glad he never gave up he has helped change lots of peoples self image and given them a positive outlook. He is on my ultimate gay best friend wishlist!!
