Alastair Humphreys
About this listen
Alastair Humphreys walked across India, from the Coromandel Coast to the Malabar Coast, following the course of a holy river. Walking alone and spending the nights sleeping under the stars, in the homes of welcoming strangers, or in small towns and villages, he experienced the dusty enchantment of ordinary, real India on the smallest of budgets.
There Are Other Rivers tells the story of the walk through an account of a single day as well as reflecting on the allure of difficult journeys and the eternal appeal of the open road.

A beautiful delve into the mindset of adventure
This book is very highly rated on Amazon.com for good reason.
If you’re tempted to buy to audible version I’d recommend looking at the reviews on Amazon.com to convince you to purchase the book in either written or audio format.
The audio version especially appealed to me because it was narrated by Al himself, after being moved by his narration of ‘Around the World by Bike’. I was not disappointed, his narration makes the anecdotes so much happier, sadder, funnier and more impactful than if it was read by anyone else.
The audible version of the book is truly a joy to listen to, and, because it is relatively short, I can’t wait to listen to it again and again. Each time I do I’m sure that different ideas will resonate with me.
Thank you Al!

Really enjoyed
This is the second book in a row I’ve read of Alastairs after bicycle around the world and really enjoyed it. Just downloaded his summer book of 2019 and can’t wait to start it on my commute to work. Nothing makes me want to get on the road travelling again like listening to these books.

A fantastic listen
My girls and I love Alastair's books. There is the right blend of humour mixed with adventure in all of his books. I respect his honesty in the pull between life on the road and that of family and responsibilities and am inspired by his "just do it" attitude.

Brilliant and inspiring
I stumbled across this book and was not expecting to feel so inspired. It is brilliantly written and I found it very motivational. It makes you think about the lives we choose and how we is the west over complicate our lives. This is a real thought provoking gem. Thank you Alastair

Love Big Al ❤
I've read all of Alistair's books and he's definitely one of my favourite adventure writers. This short one is a bit different to the others but still well worth a listen. His enthusiasm is pretty infectious.
