Summary

Jenny loves to house-sit, looking after a stranger's enviably perfect home and pretending to be someone else - just for a bit.

Her latest booking is a beautiful, disheveled old rectory in the Home Counties owned by the uber-successful Lewis family. Freed of teaching duties for the summer, and her own teenagers spending time with her objectionable ex, Jenny readies herself for a life of walk-in larders and sparkling water taps.

Battling to control the riotous family dog and stay cool in an unrelenting heat wave, she discovers skeletons in the Lewis closet that further threaten to disrupt her idyll. But then a seductive new friendship offers her a surprise second chance: to open herself up to love again and to finally live life on her own terms.

Laugh-out-loud funny, touching and romantic, this is the new summer novel from the much-loved Fiona Walker.

Fiona Walker at her best!

I loved this book. It takes me back to reading some of Fiona's earlier works.

It might seem a bit slow to start but bear with it and get to know the characters.

Disappointed with the narrator!

Typical chic lit book, easy to listen to and slightly predictable but spoilt by the narrator who sounded uptight and bored!
I understand that she was trying to be in character but her 'very English' voice made it less enjoyable than if I'd read it myself or had someone ' more fun' narrating!!
Overall...ok!!

Persevere it's worth it.

I struggled with the readers voice, it didn't seem to match the characters enough for me but once I got into the storey it wasn fine. Enjoyed the story. It was a bit different to other fiona walker books I read, but I enjoyed it.

Returning this 1/3 of the way through

What would have made The Woman Who Fell in Love for a Week better?

If the main character wasn't a blithering idiot

Has The Woman Who Fell in Love for a Week put you off other books in this genre?

no

Which character – as performed by Julia Franklin – was your favourite?

Gunther

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Woman Who Fell in Love for a Week?

most of them

Any additional comments?

I actually couldn't finish this as the main character was SO stupid, it was practically painful. She is meant to be a professional housesitter, but then she keeps saying "I know the house owner told me not to do this, but it''ll probably be fine" and then it, predictably, proceeds to be a disaster. I just gave up.
