About this listen

What if you could become a character in your favorite stories?

Spenser was just an ordinary boy who enjoyed video games more than reading until he was approached by a mysterious cowboy who gave him a small, white stone. Just touching the stone sent shivers up Spenser’s arm, and suddenly he wanted to try it out.

That evening when Spenser read his book and held the stone, he found himself transported into the village of Arco, a boy from long ago who was trying to save his people from a ferocious dinosaur. Spenser and Arco team up to discover a secret about the dinosaur.

Will they succeed in their quest? How will Spenser get home?

Any thing to get children hooked on books is great

I got this book for my 7 year old niece and knowing the book wouldn't get much of a review from her, I decided to listen to it myself, so it could get more than a one word answer and also to see if it was appropriate for her and more importantly something she would listen to. The answer is yes, I think she will love it. The story is short enough to keep her attention but with enough going on that she shouldn't get board. It is written in a nice simple language and with words most ages will understand, showing the author knows her audience well, even the adults that have to listen to it might enjoy it, I did. It is a nice story with a happy ending. I will see if she likes it but I think I might have to get the rest of the books in the series.
Spenser has to read and then write a book report but he doesn't like reading when there are lots of other things to do. That is until he meets a cowboy who gives him a wishing stone with the instructions to choose his book carefully. Spenser picks a dinosaur book and while reading the book in the comfort of his own bedroom he picks up the stone and is transported to a village where he helps a young boy called Arco, with his dinosaur problem. Through team work and understand can the young boys save the village?
I liked the narrator and think his clearly spoken words and reflections will help the child's imagination fly.

Good idea

A very good short story. It’s one of those kids books that are nice and help pass the time on a random Sunday.

dinosaurs are awesome

My kids think dinosaurs are awesome, they're not wrong, their words and they really liked that this book was about dinosaurs and that they weren't made into the villain of the story just destroying things for the sake of it.

I like books that make them look at situations differently, just as Spencer does when he finds himself in Arcos world and encountering a troubled dinosaur.

Catching a child's imagination is the most important part of a children's book and this one did it perfectly, my kids loved it and I hope this book helps awaken a love of reading in other kids as it's encouraged mine to continue expanding the worlds they read about.

I really liked the little snippet at the end about dinosaur facts and development in understanding of their fossils, I want more of that in books.

Mark Wimmer is an excellent narrator, perfectly capturing the spirit of the book in his reading. I look forward to finding more books narrated by him.
