Summary

The novel from the bestselling author of The Flatshare and The No-Show.

Two sworn enemies. A failing hotel. One chance to save the season...

It's the busiest season of the year, and Forest Manor Hotel is quite literally falling apart. So when Izzy and Lucas are given the same shift on the hotel's front desk, they have no choice but to put their differences aside and see it through.

The hotel won't stay afloat beyond Christmas without some sort of miracle. But when Izzy returns a guest's lost wedding ring, the reward convinces management that this might be the way to fix everything. With four rings still sitting in lost property, the race is on for Izzy and Lucas to save their beloved hotel - and their jobs.

As their bitter rivalry turns into something much more complicated, Izzy and Lucas begin to wonder if there's more at stake here than the hotel's future. Can the two of them make it through the season with their hearts intact?

Lovely easy listen

Loved this book. The narration is great though I must admit that Lino’s Brazilian accent was at times a bit tricky to understand. By the end of the book however I found it easier.

Loved it!

I loved this and flew through it, staying up way later than someone with 3 year old twins should do..
I really liked that the story continues after the big declaration unlike so many others. It is really lovely to see a little into what happens after this point.
I've been looking forward to another Beth O'Leary book since The No Show and this didn't disappoint. I'm already looking forward to the next.

Wonderful easy listening!

I listen to books between work visits in the car and when I’m doing chores at home. This book was absolutely perfect for that. Lucas is complex and the narrator sounds hot. Izzy is a really likeable and relatable character. Definitely recommend!

Hard to put down

I love and have read all Beth’s books, and she has such a knack for writing characters who you really care about and breathtaking chemistry, so much so you can’t put them down. This was no exception. I feel the story maybe had a little less substance than her other books (especially compared with ‘The no show’) but focuses on the relationship and chemistry of the leads.

I thought the narration fit the characters absolutely fine, could understand Lino no problem and didn’t find it annoying at all as other reviewers have. Can’t wait for the next one!

Great story. Struggled with narration

I loved the story. Beth never fails to write a great book. I really enjoyed the female narration by Jessie, unfortunately the Lucas narration was hard to hear clearly, when he did voices from other characters it was fine but the Lucas narration was muffled and difficult to understand. Such a shame. I’m glad I persevered as I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I thought I knew the end of the story about 10 different times…then it changed!

I absolutely love Beth O’Leary’s style of writing from 2 different perspectives. I thought this story was nearing its conclusion on a few occasions, and I’d have been disappointed with the ending I imagined. There were so many plot twists and turns and “aha” moments, particularly with the other receptionist about 3/4 through (no spoilers here). As usual a wonderful story and one I inhaled in under 24 hours!
