Burning pyres, nuns on the run, stirring courage, and comic relief: the Protestant Reformation is a gripping tale, packed with drama. But what motivated the Reformers? And what were they really like?

The Unquenchable Flame is a lively, accessible, and informative introduction to the Reformation by Michael Reeves, bringing to life the movement's most colorful characters: Martin Luther, Ulrich Zwingli, John Calvin, the Puritans, and others.

Experience the book that has been called the absolute best historical introduction to the Reformation. Brilliantly written, but strangely narrated.

The Unquenchable Flame: Discovering the Heart of the Reformation is brilliantly researched, and written in an accessible and most enjoyable way. However the narrator sounds more like a computer than a human, and would have benefitted from the author narrating it instead.

Great account, wish Michael had read it though!

A great account of the Reformation, I will be going on to the lectures of the Puritans. The only downside is that it would have been much better if read by the author. The American narrator just didn't deliver, and stumbled over some pronunciation.

excellent for research

really good for a decent foundational knowledge of the Reformation. easy and engaging, getting your teeth cut on an important subject. also examines the wider historical context of the Reformation in England, which was very interesting also.
