Summary

"In this house we believe that: Black Lives Matter, Love Is Love, Gay Rights Are Civil Rights, Women’s Rights Are Human Rights, Transgender Women Are Women".

You may have seen signs with some of these messages in your neighborhood. They offer us an all-or-nothing package deal - in short, a secular creed. In this provocative audiobook, Rebecca McLaughlin helps us disentangle the beliefs Christians gladly affirm from those they cannot embrace, and invites us to talk with our neighbors about the things that matter most. Far from opposing love across difference, McLaughlin argues, Christianity is the original source and firmest foundation for true diversity, equality, and life-transforming love.

Great analysis

This book was easy to follow and well written. It is an excellent analysis of the secular landscape of the main issues in the culture wars. Setting out where secularists have got it right and wrong from a Christian perspective.

Great book to help anyone think about these issues

it is a book to listen to a few times in order to grasp the issues and the pain of the human condition when we are lost without a clear pathway to peace with ourselves.

A very compassionate book.

An interesting take on the current complex issues, topics that often end up with people shouting. I was pleased to listen to the calm take from a compassionate person.

A powerful masterpiece. A must-read.

Intelligently, thoughtfully, and beautifully written. Any Jesus follower who wants to engage our current culture in a way that both upholds the truths of Scripture and takes Jesus’ radical and humble approach to loving and reaching people with the gospel will not be disappointed with this book. Our Christian witness depends on the type of wisdom the author shares for this day and age. This is the book I’ve been waiting for. I have hundreds of titles in audible and Kindle, and I plan not only to re-listen but also to read this one again. There is no fluff in these pages. Not one wasted word. I flew through it. Don’t hesitate to get this. The author’s narration is also wonderfully done. A++ all around. Thank you very much, Rebecca McLaughlin, for writing this masterpiece.

Really great read

In an age where we are bombarded in the media about so many topics, this was a refreshing book to read. Filled with great theology to compel the Christian towards a more biblical world view. Especially the final chapter which encourages more compassion, conversations, understanding and love for Christ through engaging in the complexity of this world.

Must read!!

In todays society, it is imperative that we as followers of Jesus listen to His word and what he says about some of todays toughest topics. Rebecca brought these to the forefront and gave clear and concise explanations. Wow! It brought me to tears as I realized just how sucked in to the poor care of those Jesus loves so much! Thanks!

Exactly what contemporary Christians need to understand

In this book, Rebecca cleverly weaves together biblical principles and sound scientific evidence to argue the side of each claim made, and she does so with love and sincerity. Excellent book.

A Great Book Addressing Secular Claims

I loved this short little book! Rebecca takes all the populat secular claims and demonstrates that the underlying assumption behind each of them is rooted in a Christian worldview. She also points out sin and hypocrisy within the Christian church and shows how that is part of what led to these secular ideas becoming so popular and portraying Christianity so badly to modern secularists. This book was challenging, informative, and encouraging at the same time. I hope this book helps us each to see how the secular creed falls short of the glory of the gospel!

Gospel Focused and Thoughtful

A lot of books have a few golden nuggets within them. This isn’t one of those. It’s an entire minefield of not only good words, but also full of inspiration in engaging culture thoughtfully and in redemptive ways.

Unfortunate

This book is very good and will unfortunately be hated by some genuine Brothers and Sisters in CHRIST. I literally pray that those who read or listen will be given great grace to look past their own road blocks and see the truth communicated in these pages.

Helpful, exhorting and educational!!!

Excellent read and helpful to the body of Christ, in exhortation and lovingly reminding how to love others who disagree with us. Truly appreciate her wisdom and grace in sharing these truths!
