Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

I know you don’t know me but you have to help me. I didn’t kill anyone.

When Rowan stumbles across the advert, it seems like too good an opportunity to miss: a live-in nanny position, with a staggeringly generous salary. And when she arrives at Heatherbrae House, she is smitten by the luxurious ‘smart’ home fitted out with all modern conveniences, by the beautiful Scottish Highlands, and by this picture-perfect family.

What she doesn’t know is that she’s stepping into a nightmare – one that will end with a child dead and her in a cell awaiting trial for murder.

She knows she’s made mistakes. But she’s not guilty – at least not of murder. Which means someone else is…

Full of spellbinding menace, The Turn of the Key is a gripping modern-day haunted house novel.

One of those rare 6* books!

This is a remarkable read/listen. It is extremely compelling, with richly drawn, engaging characters. The quality of the writing is faultless and I hated to put it down. I felt a stronger emotional response when it ended than with any other book. Highly recommended .

Can't tell you how incredible this book is

The story, the narration, the whole package - this is absolutely one of the very best audio books I have listened to (and I listen to a great deal of books). No need to hesitate, buy this immediately and enjoy.

Poor story

So the one mystery you're trying to solve is set out in the first few minutes and between that and the final few minutes when it's addressed, there is just unnecessary drivel. Major plot holes. Don't bother.

Returned

Story started well but I gave up through part one as couldn't stand listening to the narrator anymore!

Sorry not for me

I found this to be trite and rather rubbish. I loved Ruth Ware’s The Death of Mrs Westaway, it had atmosphere and wonderful characters this sadly had neither. Yes there was a twist but out of the blue and not believable.

Waste of time

The worst case of endless filler I've ever endured. I'll never put myself through anything by this author again.

Ruth Ware is simply one of the best download this immediately

The only bad thing about finishing this book is realising I may need to wait a while before I can get my Ruth Ware fix again. I don’t think reviews should say too much about the book so as not to spoil just a beautifully crafted story. I will simply say I loved it and I will be listening to it again.
Imogen Church is the perfect narrator. I wish I could carry her around in my head all day every day.

Great narration

Kept me listening although a little drawn out. Suspense was well built to a rather disappointing end I’m afraid. Narrator was very good though.
