Another really enjoyable listening of this second story from this author. Yet again fabulous characters and a great narrator.

The writing and research sweeps you up and takes you into a wholly believable medieval world. The plot turns and twists in an interesting way, although there are times when it becomes a little stilted. More action and less exposition would have made it a five star review.’

I’m always interested in this period of history but normally in a mystery form. Had the first book from the plus catalogue and it was interesting, has suspense and very engaging characters. All very well performed. This book was just as good and well worth the credit and only wish there was a third.

It took you back to the plague, but in a way that showed strength and friendship, loyalty and belief to make something so terrifying into a believable episode of history. Well worth listening to

Another very fine book by Minette Walters. superb characters, absorbing story, and satisfying ending. The reader is very talented and embellished the story rather than getting in the way. A model of what a reader should be.

it was a good listen, and I'm enthralled with lady. the lies around Thaddeus was a bit hard to believe, but it was entertaining to see how the plot and lies unfolded

OK, but perhaps not quit as good as the first

This and the first book in the series ‘The Last Hours’ make an excellent listen. The storyline is compelling really drawing the listener into the tale. Helen Keeley’s narration is easy to listen to, clear and her use of voices adds to the whole.
If you enjoy historical fiction I really recommend this book.
