Summary

State Road 177 runs along the Suwannee River, between Fargo, Georgia, and the Okefenokee Swamp. Drive that route from east to west, and you'll cross six bridges. Take it from west to east, and you might find seven. But you'd better hope not. Titus and Melanie Bell leave their hotel in Fargo for a second honeymoon canoeing the Okefenokee Swamp. But shortly before they reach their destination, they draw up to a halt at the edge of a rickety bridge with old stone pilings, with room for only one car....

When, much later, a tow-truck arrives, the driver finds Titus lying in the middle of the road, but Davina is nowhere to be found.

excellent narration

I enjoyed this book. It was a little slow at times, but it was unique, had an interesting plot, and most importantly the narration was simply amazing! The accent and voice intonation really brought this story to life and made it very fun and immersive.

A GREAT STORY TOLD BY AN AMAZING NARRATOR.

State Road 177 runs along the Suwannee River, between Fargo, Georgia, and the Okefenokee Swamp. Drive that route from east to west, and you’ll cross six bridges. Take it from west to east, and you might find seven.

But you’d better hope not.
This has Southern America pouring off it and the performance of T Ryder Smith is faultless. He brings all the characters vividly to life and reads at a great pace that will keep you hooked from the first minute. Densely populated by some great characters and some wonderful lines, this is a true literary page turner. I cannot recommend this audiobook enough.

sharp writing style, beautifully read.

Great story, familiar feeling characters for a supernatural thriller, but still original. was hooked the whole way through. the writing leaves a lot to the imagination but it never feels like you're missing anything.

I love Cherie Priest works anyway one of the things I love about her work is that you never really know in which direction her books go and this one turned and twisted in brilliant ways

an excellent story

not too much horror, a bit of supernatural. the narrator grew on me luckily as I almost quit within the first chapter.

the characters were good and the story actually had some substance to it.

Excellent Southern Gothic with a Lovecraft Feel

This is an outstanding listen! Great southern gothic vibe with a high bodycount, a very great deal of atmospheric wierdness, brilliantly written characters and the two hardest old women ever to walk the earth. This is FREE at the moment which is ridulous! I had 7.99's worth of enjoyment by the time i was a half hour in. Go for it!

Clever story, and oh so brilliantly narrated.

T. Riders Smith's narration is a bit like Marmite, you either love it or hate it. I adored his voice. Eerily drawled out one minute and sensual or gruff the next. A myriad of lead characters each effortlessly distinguishable. The story was rather good too! Highly recommend.
